Laptop screen leaking fluid

My laptop screen has just started to leak fluid all over it. It appears like black droplets, like ink, but appears clear when removed with a tissue. How did this happen and can it be fixed?

Is the screen cracked?

Apart from the liquid does the screen work correctly?
