Alas - my story is nowhere near as good as HJs.

I made up my mind prior to this tourney to play really aggressive. I drew a table with Kevin (Farrelly I think), and I know he is a loose goose, so the table was likely to be fast.

It wasnt. Well it was for Kevin who hit about 4 sets in a very short spade of time ... mostly when he was all-in and mostly when he was behind.

So - fun hands for me.

Blinds 25/50, one limper, and I limp in the CO with 8Ts, as the button has been quiet. The button duly obliges and makes it 300 ... thats a big raise, think I. Folded back to me, and I decide to call. Flop 983r, check, check, turn K, I check, he bets 500, I call, river Q, check, check and 8T wins.

Blinds are 50/100, 3 limpers, and I see Q7o, I make it 600, and get one caller. This guy had just made a big call recently with AK on a monotone A-high board, to beat a flush draw. His most likely hand is some form of medium pair ... although he limped in with the AK that time. I have been quiet at the table thus far so when the flop comes 662, I bet 1000 and he folds.

I then go on a mini-rampage either raising or betting the flop about 4/5 hands in a row, but dont get any callers. You really need to get action to get anywhere.

Soon, I find QQ in the BB, blinds are 100/200, folded to button ... a talky Northern guy, who makes it 750, the SB calls (he is v.tight), I move in. And they both fold, Mr. Northy claiming AK, and Mr. Tight claiming JJ. I silently wish they had both called.

I have 63o in the BB, villain limps in MP - he has limped a few times, but usually raises Aces (at least thats what I told myself). SB limps, I check, flop A62 with two diamonds. check, I bet 500, villain makes it 1500. Hmmm think I. SB folds ... I decide to call and move in on a non-diamond turn. I call, and the diamond is a 4 ... I move in and villain folds instantly. Guess he was lying after all.

I now go card and situation dead. Everytime I'm in late pos, the pot is raised in front of me and I have no hand, and everytime I get half a hand, the BB is really short stacked and I think he will call.

I get moved table - there are some big stacks at the next table, but it doesnt matter much because it lasts about 1 orbit before it breaks.

I get moved again - and the new table has lots of average stacks. Alas, I'm back to card-deadness again. Blinds get up to 400/800 with an ante of 50, and I find Q9o in the BB and about 8k. Folded to the button who makes it 3500 to play. I had already decided to shove no matter what my cards were, but I look and insta-push just to make it look good. Surpsingly to me, villain thinks for ages ... so I know he has no hand, and I have just enough chips to scare him. He lays down ... I silently guffaw.

Next hand, I am not guffawing though. Folded to me in the SB with 98o, and I move in, BB thinks for 4 seconds and calls with KJo ... *sigh*. KJ wins. Good call.

    Back to sh1tsville.

I find 33 in the CO and move in, my KJ nemesis calls with 77, but I hit a 3, so back up to 8k.

I move in with AK utg, get called by AQ for a 25k pot, but the board double pairs to chop.

I move in with A6s in ep, and win the blinds.

Blinds now go up at a ferocious pace, and get up to 1000/2000 and I have 13000. There is also a 100 ante. There is nearly 4k out there. I'm thinking I can profitably push with any two cards. I find 5c4c and move in. The big stack thinks for ages, counting the pot and stuff, and finally calls, another big stack moves in - the big stack says "sh1t" and calls.

Big = AQo, slightly smaller = KK, Me = 45s

4 on the flop gives me hope, but K on turn kills me dead and I'm off home at 2am, getting to the last 45 or something and never getting above 13k chips.

    Yuck.
