    http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/scot_prem/4909812.stm

Was looking at the match reports just now and found something shocking.

If you check the link you'll find:

"With 20 minutes remaining, Hibs threw on Dean Shiels for his first appearance since having an eye removed in January."

Is this a typo by the BBC? I wouldn't expect it from them as they have the best website on the internet imho.

I wouldn't think its possible to play sports with one eye. Surely you wouldn't be able to judge distances accuratly.

    Searched google but found nothing.

I know a guy with 1 eye, who is a brilliant racketball player and golfer.

lets nothing get in his way, he drives too.

I'm amazed. I assumed you wouldn't be able to judge distances with one eye which is obviously critical for safe driving.
Am I wrong in believing this?

Em....bizarre. Surely depth perception is a pretty critical thing for a footballer? I hope he's not the goalie :)

Infact, come to think of it, I know 2 people with one eye who both drive.

How do they decide who gets it on what day?

Perhaps depth perception isn't much of an issue if you are already intimately familiar with the objects you are attempting to estimate distance to: After so many years playing with a football, you know how big a ball appears at a certain distance.
