Eh, I just finished watching Imprint. I mean that I just finished the comedown following my watching of Imprint. Actually I'm not quite over it yet. My tummy is still a little tight.

Received this over a week ago and I think I'm glad I didn't watch it then because it all would have been over far too early.

Have you seen the trailer? If you haven't seen the trailer, watch the trailer. After you've watched the trailer, know that the trailer is nothing compared to this episode as a whole! Nothing! These things are described as Balls To The Walls. This is balls to the motherf**king base of a shuttle craft as it attempts re-entry on a planet with a very dense atmosphere!... Yeah!...

I don't like saying extreme opinions about things such as this but I will say that, without a doubt, Imprint in the sickest, most gurn inducing, arm flailing film/T.V. show/short that I have ever seen.

    Other things compared to Imprint:-

The Exorcist - Bunnies jumping in a meadow.
Susperia - A mother pouring a glass of orange juice.
Audition - A roaring fire on a cold winter's night.
(The) Ring - Grandma's old rocking chair. Awwwww.
The Fly - Your favourite ice-cream flavour.
    Ogrish.com/Rotten.com/Etc. - A battery you're not sure is empty.

And you know what else? This is the only thing I've seen that I think should not be shown on T.V. That's right, I said it. I don't think this should be shown on television! You wanna know why? Cos' some people will not be able to take. This. S*it.

You'll notice this isn't really a review so much as me describing how brilliantly sick Imprint is...
    Your comments?

Sounds just spiffing. I have to see it now.

I can see why it wasn't shown on American TV. I thought it was just because they wanted to sell the DVD, but to be honest, we all know what American audiences can be like and there are a few things in this episode they would have serious problems with.

Mainly because of (only read this next bit if you've seen the episode)
the aborted babies floating down the river
    .

I loved it. It was totally sick. The
torture scene! OMG! It was so Audition-esque, made me cringe - and that's saying something - absolutely sick and it was great.

Actually, I just want to add something. I'm disappointed that he was forced to do the episode in English. It would have been much better in Japanese, because Miike's English is not the best, and it's hard to direct acting when you don't speak the language very well. Billy Drago was bad, frankly, and some of the Japanese actors clearly didn't speak English and some were hard to understand (the little one with the messed up nose). It didn't ruin my enjoyment of the episode, but it could have been much better if it was done in Japanese (or they had cast a different actor as "the American").

Oh god, Drago really was crap. So, so crap. I actually laughed at his terrible reaction when
he found out Kimomo was dead.

The language thing never bothered me too much except in the beginning when I couldn't stop thinking, "Why can everyone on a remote Asian island speak fluent English?"

Haha yeah, that's the bit I was thinking of too. It was so Darth Vader at the end of Ep3.

Still, all in all, best episode so far really, and what I've been waiting for. Some of the other episodes were alright, some good (like Cigarette Burns), but overall the whole series has been pretty "meh", this saved it for me.

You wouldn't expect less from Miike in terms of how disturbing it was,
incest, torture, mutated Siamese twins, aborted babies. The bit where she stuck those needles through her gums was horrible
    .

I didn't like it though, the acting was bad, as pointed out by Koneko I think it would have worked out better had it been in Japanese. The revelation at the end
that they are Siamese twins and the one in the head wanted the ring and whatever it wants it gets
was a bit crap I thought.

Billy Drago was awful, could he have been more wooden?

Of the four or five Master of Horror episodes I've seen I can't say I've found them to be all that good to be honest. 'Meh' certainly is the best way to describe it.

Dammit I really want to see this now. :(

I haven't seen any of the Masters Of Horror, when I missed the first few I said **** it, I'll wait for the dvds....have they announced a release date?
But the OP's description has made me want to see the Miike episode even more now!

Some of the DVDs are out already. They've done the most retarded thing possible if you ask me. They're releasing the episodes on separate DVDs, each with two episodes. And the DVDs are full price! (Example.)

I don't know if they're going to release a boxset at some point but I sure hope so.

That's pretty bad alright. Might hold on to see if they have a box-set planned.

Garris has said that there will be a boxset. If there is one it will more than likely be out around Christmas.

From Marc at Anchor Bay UK,

"NOTE: THIS APPLIES TO ANCHOR BAY UK ONLY. THE US MASTERS OF HORROR SERIES REMAINS UNCHANGED.

We've analysed fan feedback over the last month on and off the forums and have decided on a different release strategy for the MoH Franchise. We will be commencing work on a box set for the entire series which will come out sometime in the Autumn, full details to be announced.

As a result of this, the doubles will no longer be released as previously planned. We apologise for any inconvenience and disappointment this may cause but we feel it is the best way forward for the series and the best way to give you, the fans, the best possible package and value for money. Full details of the box set will be revealed once they are finalized."

Nice to have the fan's views listened to,even if I have to get the first two episodes again.
