Extra cable after changing head unit?

I just changed the stereo in the car and the old one had this going into its aerial socket but cannot figure out what its purpose was?
The new one is fitted and working just fine without it, am slighly worried about frying the electronics in my car!
The old unit was a Blaupunkt CD51 and was fitted into a 02 Skoda Fabia.Have a weather station?, why not join the Ireland Weather Network - http://irelandweather.eu/
