I have just booked tickets for Rock Werchter and am wondering if any other boardsies are going to share news/info etc.

    Here are some details;
Alternative To Oxegen - ROck Werchter

What is it: Rock Werchter is a music festival in the village of Werchter in Belgium. It is the sister festival of the Roskilde one in Denmark. The editions of 2003 and 2005 gained the Arthur award for best festival in the world at ILMC. Since the 2003 edition Werchter has become a 4-day festival, as it was sold by owner Herman Schuermans to American organizers which had both positive and negative effects.

    Dates: June 29 - July 2.

Lineup: most bands haven't confirmed yet, confirmed bands include:

Day 1: The Subways, Deftones, Manu Chao Radio Bemba Sound System, Kaizers Orchestra, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Tool. Damian "Jr. Gong" Marley, The Streets, Roger Sanchez

Day 2: The Who, Muse, Skin, Kanye West, Live, Anouk. The Kooks, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Elbow, Mogwai, Radio Soulwax presents: Vitalic, Soulwax Nite Versions, Tiga, 2 Many DJ's

Day 3: Wolfmother, Arsenal, Kelis, Kaiser Chiefs, Franz Ferdinand, Placebo, dEUS. Donavon Frankenreiter, Arctic Monkeys, Goldfrapp, Sigur Rós

Day 4: Absynthe Minded, Eels, Starsailor, Robert Plant & The Strange Sensation, Ben Harper & the Innocent Criminals, Hooverphonic, Depeche Mode. Collective Soul, Bettye LaVette, An Pierlé & White Velvet, Laurent Garnier & Bugge Wesseltoft featuring Philippe Nadaud, Super Discount

(Date for Editors yet to be announced)

Tickets: are on presale at the moment, can only be bought here: http://www.teleticketservice.com

Cost:60 euro for any of the four days/ 132 euro for a 4 day combi ticket.
Could sell out soon, have to get our act together.

Camping: costs 15 euro for 5 days, tickets includes transport on all public services in Belgium.
There are proper showering facilities, and beer/food is at proper prices.

    Getting There:
    Direct flight Dublin - Brussels

From the Airport you take a Bus to the center Station, and then a free train to the festival, and then walk for 5 mins to the camping

Takes about 1hr from the Aiport.

    Everyones speaks english

Tickets: Ryanair are cheapest cost is:
    note camping is from 28th - 3rd.
    Wed 28th - Mon 3rd = 65 euro
    Tue 27th - Mon 3rd = 55euro
    Tue 2th - Tue 4th = 44 euro.

Bear in mind hostels arent likely to cost more than 15 euro a night.

Total price (5days camping,4 days festival, extra night in hostel)= 195

Which is definitely cheaper than an Oxegen ticket on e-bay or anywhere else.

apologies to Elites for plagarising him.

Also does anyone know where I should be able to get a tent?
And how vheap is food/drink there?

I usually got to Millets on Mary st for all my tents (I go through a lot). They are good quality and extremely cheap. Got a 3 man tent for 35 euro last year. Theres very little these cant hold up against that you'll get at a festival (except for this :-( )

Personally Im holding out for This baby. Takes 2 seconds to pitch and 15 seconds to take down. They'll be getting them in end of May they tell me.

Last year I only spent €40 on food/drink during the whole weekend, and lived quite comfortably at that. I didn't see any supermarkets but they should be around and would be worth going to for stocking up.

In the Benelux countries it's custom to pay for extra sauces for your chips. I fondly remember getting chips with mayonaise, literally drowned in the stuff... just couldn't be good for you.

Looks like all the 4 day Combi tickets have sold out. I'm heading with a big gang of people but stupidly two of the lads didn't get around to getting their tickets in time. Argh. Anyone know if in past years more tickets have been released at a later date closer to the gig? Also, bit of a long shot but I don't suppose anyone would have one spare that they're looking to sell? - I'm sure they'd pay a good price.

And finally, anyone know if you buy 4 single day tickets can you still camp on the site if you buy a camping ticket, or do you have to have a combi ticket aswell??

I think a batch of extra tickets went onsale last year, but I can't be certain.

Also, resold tickets are not valid from this year onwards in order to combat touting, so you won't be able to buy tickets unofficialy.

Yes, you can buy single tickets and camp with a camping ticket.

Thinking of going to this festival at end of June in Belgium but is it sold out? having trouble finding out if it is online. If they're still available does anyone know where i can get tickets?

    Cheers

Looks like the weekend tickets are sold out...
The festival site is http://www.rockwerchter.be (I don't have the plugins to get onto the non-text version of the site).
Also there was another thread recently about this festival if you want to look it up.

Plenty of other festivals worth a look across Europe though :)

It does seem like the weekend tickets are sold out. Managed to get mine in time!
There's a waiting list set up on http://www.teleticketservice.com but I don't know if that guarantees tickets. The other option is to get the 4 1-day tickets, but that works out quite expensive. Probably better off going to another festival....

yeah I am going as well it appears most Irish people are heading for the A-3 campsite.
And tickets for full weekend have sold out I am afraid, although there is some sort of waiting list system.

Can not wait, wolfmother are playing.

Anyone on the thursday 6am flight?

how do you get to the festival from Charleroi?
Is all the transport free? or do we have to make way into brussels city first?

The last time I was in Brussles, last summer, the bus from Charleroi to Gare de Midi was ten euro and it takes about an hour.
