iPOD battery issues

    Hi all,
I am having major battery difficulties with my 1.4 mini ipod. Everything works fine except, when I want to use it as a portable device as i have no access to a power supply.

It is always fully charged as I either charge it via windows PC, the powerlead Apple supplied or by way of the ilogic dock station which is a fantastic portable accessory for the pod but I am having doubts on whether it has effected the battery or not.

This all started when using the ilogic and my itrip. It seems that these are not apple approved products so i am wondering have they affected the battery. No matter how hard I try to fully charge the battery within 20 mins the pod registers a requirement to charge and then switches itself off. I take it now that I have to replace the battery which is going to be a pain in the ass and costly I am surprised the battery is gone so soon as my wife bought it for me as a xmas present in 2004 and it is now out of warranty.

Any one else having these problems?

Any ideas / suggestions and where to get it fixed {Dublin area} also how much?.

    Thanks!

I also bought an itrip in the UK and after about 3/4 days my battery was running down very quickly. Now it wont charge at all, when i plug it in it says charging but it switches off once i uplug it. Didnt realise that it was the itrips fault until i read ur post. i was trying to get a new battery in mactivate in blanchardstown but will this solve the problem? anyone know more about this? new battery costs €80!

i got a replacement battery for my second gen ipod in maplins for around 16 euro and they had battery s for the mini ipods as well , i found a good online tutorial for installing the battery and it took about 20 minutes to install http://www.ipodhowtovideo.com/mini/miniharddrivereplacement.html its a bit tricky to do but a lot cheaper than 80 euros
