Is there anyway around paying the 90 euro for it - seems a bit steep - can you not just buy a 2nd wireless router for about 40-50 euro, connect it to the xbox, and bounce the connection from the 1st wireless router onto it ? Basically what I'm asking is can you use a 2nd wireless router as a kinda NIC for the xbox? Thanks.

I've a wireless router. Was wondering if I bought one of these would I be able to plug into the xbox and use that instead of the official wireless connector

    That'd look silly.

No way of putting drivers onto the 360. The official wireless adapter's drivers are pre-installed on the system, so it just plugs and plays.

Yeah but its a lot of money for a stupid little wireless xbox dongle. I'd rather run a huge broadband wire around my house than shell out €90 for that official wireless dongle

Me neither - it is a ****ing ripoff, Jammer I wasn't talking about a wireless card/nic/dongle whatever, I was talking about an actual ROUTER that would plug into the xbox's ethernet port.. no need for extra drivers or anything..

Smyths in town near Jervis Street, have the adapter for 79 Euro. Must be a mistake really, 90 quids everywhere else.

There is another options of Internet Connection sharing from a pc if you've got one close to the machine, only downside to that is the pc has to be on, while you are gaming.

    Cheers

The 360 has support for quite a few usb wireless adapters. You should be able to find a list somewhere. The official one is a trimode device (802.11a/b/g). suitable for streaming video. MS are promoting the fact that it supports 802.11a but this is essentially the same as g, 54Mbps. Just without all the fancy turbo features. a works at 5GHZ while g at 2.5GHZ. I think a might be better if you want to stream HD content.
