Hi all. Does anybody know if an image captured from a movie can be redistributed as printed media; primarily for sale? If not, any idea on sites to visit for the purpose of securing rights?

i'm not an expert or anything but since the studio paid money to capture said imagery, i'd be willing to bet that they own all rights, and as such, re-distrobution of such images without paying royalties is fairly illegal

I pretty much knew this but reckon there are probably some films out there (mostly older) that have waived such rights. I have seen countless movie images for sale as posters and prints that were definitely not porduced by the original filmakers. These images have probably been bought by companies specialising in this area. can't seem to find anything online.
