    Hi,
Can you install both Serial ATA and the old ATA harddrives in the one machine? Is there a performance hit?

And on another topic, do you need to get a 64 bit OS to use a 64bit processor.
Reasons for is I'm thinking of a major overhaul, upgrading to AMD 64 3800 but keeping a lot of the old hardware, such as HD's etc.

You dont need a 64bit OS if you get a 64bit cpu, im running a amd 64 3200 since last summer with normal windows xp. I think 64bit windows isnt as well supported yet as normal windows.

And you can mix SATA and ATA disc without any problems. I would install windows on the SATA disc however.

Yea no probs having mixed drives. But prob best to install windows on the faster drive which is normally the SATA one.
