Need a sky mini dish installed

    Hi,

I'm in a bit of a complicated situation. At the moment I am on a communal dish provided by Sky Conway but in order to use it I must subscribe to their brutal cable service as well at a cost of 13 euro per month. If i cancel their cable service I lose my Sky signal.

I rang Sky to ask them will they install a minidish for me and they will not. They only provide minidishes to new customers. they told me to ring Sky Conway and get them to install a dish for me. Obviously they are unwilling to do this as well because they will lose their 13 euro per month.

What do I do now? Where can I get a minidish and are there any companies out there that sell them and install them considering they're usually installed by Sky for free?

Where to get a dish at a reasonable price?

    Try on ebay.

    Installation?

    Try DIY (it's not difficult).

where are you located? Do you have a south facing wall or balcony? Those showing on Ebay seem to be all 48cm and you need a zone 2 60cm dish to get good reception in all weathers.

I'm sure its not difficult but I'd rather an expert did it, DIY was not my forte! I would buy one on eBay but first I want to find someone to install it and they may be only willing to install one of their own dishes.

I'm located in Stepaside, near Sandyford. I'm in a terraced house but I have a south facing wall.

Sky don't refuse because your not a new customer. They only give it free to new ones, pay them and they'll come.

I got the impression they don't have a retail price for the dish. I asked them how much it would cost and they avoided the question by saying that its cheaper to buy it from a shop. They couldn't even tell me the name of a provider she told me to use the yellow pages! I'm in a contract with them until August, maybe if i ring after August and tell them to cancel because I can't find a dish then maybe they'll change their tune. I don't want to cancel though if they call my bluff because there's no alternative in my estate :(

Any reputable installer within normal driving distance will sell and install a suitable dish. But they will want permission in writing from the landlord.
