Is today a public holiday/bank holiday or what?

    I know the builders, schools etc. are off today but what is the deal with people who work in offices, banks etc.? Are they off or do they work as usual. I know the shops are open as per usual.

    Will the post go today, for example?

    It's only a bank holiday so it's at your employers disgretion as to whether or not to give you the day off. Most offices and shops are open today. The post is also delivering as well today.

    I think pubs are closed as well. It is a church holiday and a bank holiday (banks are closed) and one of the very few still observed by lots of companies. Not in mutinationals and larger companies though. A lot of people use it as an excuse for an extended weekend.

    Today is only a holiday (church I think) it's not a Public or Bank Holiday so you dont get any extra pay & time of is at company discretion. So its tough luck if you work for a shop or multinational. Although in most other Europen countrys it's a Public Holiday
