I bought a Linguaphone course shortly after moving to Germany. Bloody waste of money, for me anyway. It's not at all engaging and teaches very dull language. I can't offer any alternative suggestions, though, since I eventually just learned from my surroundings instead of a course. It's an approach I highly recommend, but it's not practical for most people.
