Anyone catch Dispatches on C4 tonight (Thursday)? It was about the issue of illegal waste dispoal in the Uk, one section was about a compnay in Belfast called Wastebeaters who are taking in truck loads of waste from the Republic for illegal tipping in NI. Stuff from Cork, Waterford, Wexford got mentioned. The cost of tiphead disposal is about one-third the cost of same down here.

I'd love to know if the material is from local authortiy collections.

    Mike.

The last bin collection in my estate which is contracted out by the council was collected by a northern reg truck. who knows where it went.

The North should be more pro-active and start charging the same as the south for landfill, it would seem to be the logical solution for combating this problem, it wouldn't be economical for them to transport it up anymore.
It seems when it comes to Environmental Issues the North always seem to be lagging behind everywhere else.
