so, had a thought for converting other Irish folk...

I wrote to Channel 6 to ask if they might be adding Firefly to their line up (wrote to TV3 as well)

I think if a few of us emailed them about Firefly it might show good interest. Nice to get is shown over here and have a few more converts who we can discuss the show with! :p

We were talking on the serenitymovie.org boards and we thought Channel 6 most likely as they have Buffy and they are new... but whatever you all think.

    I even emailed Sky One....

hmm it will be hard to get a tv network to show a TV program that has already been canned sadly. Now if there where to show it as a part of some kind of season. Like a scifi season or something it might be easyer to convince them of that.

Well I heard a channel over here (can't quite remember which one at the moment, possibly in the UK) picked up 'Greg the Bunny' which was cancelled after half a season (and in fact I've had the DVD for the past six months or so). So maybe there is hope for Firefly.

Don't they already have themed nights on channel 6? We could get it in there.. Or when they start showing movies, we could canvass them to show Serenity, and Firefly in the run-up to it?

I thnk we should all individually write to/email Channel 6 to show them that there is a sunstantial Firefly fanbase here with a huge potential to reel in more viewers. Channel 6 currently shows programs other stations were showing this side of the Atlantic for years, eg, Charmed, Buffy, Sex and the City, CSI etc. We could stress that because of Firefly's cancellation it never got a real chance in the states and certainly not here and yet so many people have been converted to Browncoats just through word of mouth, by showing Firefly Channel 6 would attract the current Firefly Fans as well as people who have heard the buzz but didn't know enough about Firefly/Serenity to buy the boxset or watch the movie.

The more of us who request Firefly, the higher chance we have of seeing it on TV again, and who knows? Joss might even work on more Firefly/another movie if he sees what an international fanbase Firefly has.

Why do you want to see it again with ad breaks? Its available on DVD for next to nothing isnt it?

Well it'd get more people into Firefly, those who are too poor/lazy to get the boxset. Spreading the Firefly goodness and all that.

THis isn't about getting people who already watch it to watch it. it's about it being on tv so people will go "oh, that look interesting" and start watching it. Word of mouth can only go so far

Thats a good idea. After all they are showing other shows that have already ended, or got cancelled. The Inside is one I'm looking forward to, although they don't know yet when they're going to be showing it.

yeah, i don't think the fact it is cancelled is a problem - Wonderfalls was already cancelled when TV3 showed it.

so far, channel 6 still hasn't got back to me - but I still think if we inundate them we could get some results. Firefly on tv means more fans to talk with about Firefly!

i don't think TV3 would have any problems showin it, i hope, i mean they show the same 4 films over and over again, i've seen the whole of teachers season 3 at least 3 times in the same year on TV3, i think they need some more stuff to show!

I sent it on their 'Contact' page. Where did you send it?

Same one, except my email was loo long to fit in the box supplied, so I sent it to the eail that it gets sent to on the contact page. Only thing is they have no email addy for the director of programming, only the marketing people so I had to view the source code of the page to get the email of the director of programming.
