UK Sky Card

A friend of mine recently moved back from London and brought his sky box & card with him. He has transferred his account and now has an Irish card too. He was wondering about using the UK Card too. Will it work? Will he get any of the channels Sky don't broadcast here (BBC 3 & 4)?

    Thanks.

BBC 3 etc. are available to anyone who can get BBC One and Two through satellite. they can be tuned in manually (see sticky)

no harm in sticking in the UK card, should work for Channel 4, five and Sky Three

    Go 501 Sky News.

    Press red or text.

When it loaded take out Irish card.

Press Backup. The UK EPG without C4 and Five will load (BBC3 and BBC4 only active after 7pm). All the missing BBC, ITV and missing radio work. No sub or card required at all.

At this point you can put in the UK card for C4 and five. Or not. Do again to swap back, but put Irish card in slot before pressing backup.

Some say you should unplug phone line. Dunno.

    Hang on a minute!
Sky has issued this chap with a replacement card? They are aware of his move.
The UK Card will be switched off as soon as the new one is activated.
Even if you remain at the same address it is standard that the old card is switched off when the new issue card is activated.

Uk card shouldn't be turned off at all as it is a FTV card now. If you don't use the card for more than a couple of months. You may have to put it in the stb on ch4 to update.

Depending on what he told Sky when, it might not be turned off. In theory they didn't need to give a new card at all...

If unused for a wjhile it may appear "turned off" but reactivate after up to 24 hrs in the box.
