Anything worth getting in the UK?

Sorry if this is the wrong forum, please move where applicable if it is.

I'm currently living in the UK, due back in Ireland in just over a month; is there anything I could take back with me that would be of any use in Ireland that I can't currently get there? I'd rather avoid sattelite systems and I imagine they're your best bet as far as that goes, but are there any cards etc. that would come in handy? Or boxes?

I'm living in Dublin by the way so I imagine the Freeview signal wouldn't be reachable.

I have a telewest connection in the house, and just got thinking earlier if it would be of any use to me when I get home, even if it just served as a second box for the NTL connection at home or something

As you can probably see, I'm not very well versed in the art of using UK equipment in Ireland.. any tips?

    Thanks

Sky Digibox and a FreeSatFromSky card. Or as many of those cards as you can get - as they're worth about 50 euros down the pub to someone who wants Channel 4 on Sky ;)

Cable systems here are -entirely- different to the UK so cable boxes won't be any use. If you've got a Freeview box already, take it with you, it might work with the RTÉ Digital trials later on this year, but don't buy one for that reason. If you've got a DAB radio, it'll work along the east coast also. Again, don't buy one if you've not got it - you can get them here...

Local Cider or Free Sat from Sky cards. Everything else is available.

Ah, sat cards are no good to me, no intention of getting a satellite at present; cheers for the info anyway, once I'm not leaving a decent box behind me

Don't have a DAB radio or DTT box so I'll wait until I get back before I think about making that investment.
