    Anyone see their new video?

Tom DeLonge is the new Robert Smith... I don't think it's a joke anymore.

Personally i dont theink there that bad, its a nice mix of a bit of industrial and pop punk. Way better than blink anyway, that is assuming the rest of the album is similar.

He said he dropped outta blink-182 because he wants to spend more time with his family.

Then he forms this band? IMO, they suck.

''I just wanna mix with other rock stars''.......................

Ya must be joking lads these aren't punk. That video and video lyrics make them not punk alone regardless of what anything else is like. A nice airbrushed finished video not too dissimilar to a Westlife video with the sunset behind them and the cheesey space ship.

There's a punk influence, and most of the members were from punk bands, but besides that they're not punk.

Musically its nothing special, nothing great but nothing bad. Blandish "stadium" or "commercial" post-punk kinda, very Secret Machines or U2 even. I did like Blink but DeLonge's voice ruins the track, its over indulgent and overproduced and way too prominent, drowns out the track mostly. Not to mention how sh!itty the lyrics are.

Comes across as ingenuine to me, a bad effort at breaking out of his usual comfort zones. With Boxcar Racer he tried the the more "edgy", "heavier" art-punk kinda thing, only to sound similarly ingenuine or less believeable. Hope the album stands up a bit better but I doubt it.

Anyone got a link for any Plus 44 stuff/vids??

Agree on the U2 comparison - thought I was goin' made for a second there - and I agree that DeLonge's voice is pretty dire, but then it always has been, truth be told. I loved blink182 myself, but this is nowhere near what they were like.

Having said that, I don't mind it so much. The album's pretty much the same stuff again and again - bland stadium or anthemic post-punk - but for some reason I can enjoy listening to it. Meh.

Angels & Airwaves certainly aint punk tho.

Nah I agree with you for the most part. That song itself is 'harmless' (for want of better term), I dont mind listening to it at all. Its not like I'm disguisted by it, was just talking about it in the grand scheme of things. I think everyone would agree it isn't very originally artistic and isn't really going anwhere. Always very critical of the stuff done outside Blink! At least with Blink Tom's voice fit in with the (and in no bad way) amateur style of play, they were never too pretentious!

The tune really gets bad towards the end, first minute or two are quite enjoyable. Yeah the U2 thing came immediately, a lot like that recent 'City of Blinding Lights' tune!

yeh, the U2 definelately shines through in them...

Tom must of got a delay pedal for christmas, there's not one song on the album that doesn't use it in some way

You'll find punk is a very vague term around here ;)

Ah that's a shame. Nearly made it a whole page without someone complaining about it.
