Following up on my promise to report back after posting my near zero winnings for the month of March and a big downer for myself here (first month in a year I wasn't up lots). So far so good for April. I'm up €820 so far coming towards the end of my first two weeks 2/3 tabling .25/.50 & .50/1 NL. Thanks for the nuts and thanks for all the fish poker gods!

I should be up a bit more too so albeit up, had to give myself a good slap in the head (with 3 occasions standing out). $300-$350 odd burnt on bad calls -- two KK vs AA scenarios and one KK vs set scenario and I bloody well knew it every single time :o

You're playing professionally at those levels? What is your bb/100?

Yeah, since March of last year. I couldn't tell you what my bb/100 is. I play and the chips come when they come :o

Ask me some other time though, I'm only just about to get set up with pokertracker and I don't use any other software apart from the casino software installed on my Pc. My records are text docs and bank statements so far.

Cheers Culchie, VBP has been good to me since I signed up :)

I'm just astounded that one can live off the 0.25/0.50 tables!

    Keep up the good work!

Tact, I'd be interested on hearing your thoughts on your bankroll and if/when you plan to move up in levels.

Cheers Ian. It's mostly .50/1 but there is a fair bit of .25/.50 too -- mostly when not much in the way of .50/1 action or the monetary total at the tables didn't grab my interest. As for the .25/.50c action -- $50 max buyin....

When I first deposited to VBP at the end of January, I turned my $150 initial deposit into $1620 total, including a 100% deposit bonus in just under 4 weeks. So, it was $1320 net profit excluding the bonus at .25/.50. It was a great run for that level imo. I started out with 1 table then moved onto 2 after I hit $200 and 3 after I hit $300 -- half my bankroll (initial deposit) at stake but plenty more set aside if needs be.

Lafortezza, with regards my bankroll -- it's currently sat at $2.5K in total. As for my thoughts on it, well, last year my BR management was brutal to say the least but I sorted it out coming towards the end of last year and it has been ok since then with one major problem. I don't build it to give myself room to move up the stakes. I withdraw, enjoy the hard earned cash and start from scratch with $1K at the end/start of each month, so, it's actually still brutal ;)

I've always been more than comfortable with 10x buyins due to my playing style but before I move onto 1/2 I'd feel a helluva lot better with $4K or 20 buyins backing my rear after some occasional dabbling at those stakes. I have played some 1/2 with varying degrees of success but finally decided that I'm not moving up there permanently until I have at least $3 and preferably $4K behind me.

Since I've been making good money at .25/.50 & .50/1 I haven't really felt the need to move up either. I want my game to be near flawless before I step up too. I want it to be as natural a progression of my ability as is possible (which I'm certain is more than good enough for 1/2 but my BR does not grant me the privilege of moving up sadly -- open to debate given my 10x buyin standards).

Personally, when building a bankroll from scratch, I've never had a problem with 5 buyins and two tabling to get the ball rolling and sometimes a lot less. Upon return from my Summer holidays last year, I deposited €200 to tribeca with a total of €1.5K in my bank account and built that up starting with one table at a time at .50/1. I've never been uncomfortable having as much as half my bankroll in play at any given time, suicidal as it may seem to most, I'm sure!

When will I move up the stakes? Soon as I feel I'm ready and my BR allows it, perhaps if I make the money in an mtt, I'm just in no rush whatsoever to do so :)

No offence, but this really shocks me that your bankroll is this small.
Especially the bit in the the first paragraph I put in bold. You play poker for a living and each month you start with 10 buy-ins for $0.50/$1 NL?

yes, I'm that comfortable with my game, that's all. I'd go so far as to say, it's plenty, especially when pedalling the nuts at those stakes.

    That's still madness.

If he's just nut peddling then it's probably OK, but it's certainly not good for playing optimum poker.

madness that has been serving me well for a year now. Could you please elaborate? If optimum means I need to drop 10 buyins before I start turning things around and getting back in the money then I'd rather not be playing optimally at all :)

I've never had the need for more than 5 buyins very worst case scenario
