It's a pity microsoft aren't on the ball as much as you guys ,if they were we might only have to work a four day week.:D

I wouldn't hold off buying a new PC just for Vista. It'll be another 6 months after release before it's useable.

I was thinking that ,but was afraid i'd crash with it half way through.

I'm using dos and windows since around 1990

To be honest it's not just vista /longhorn that i want ,it's intel's new creation.
I don't know what it is about processors ,but if a new development comes out it just makes me feel good to have use of it.

    try out lynix.

Do you mean lynx, or Linux? Its not an OS that you should be "trying out" unless you know how to use it.
Stay away from Vista at least until they release all the service packs after its final release :) Windows XP SP2 FTW!

when i used dos ,i had a bulletin board running with it ,i think it was called express or something express ,i got it from a guy from castleknock who had a bulletin board at the time called forbidden planet.

I also made batch files with options to choose commands. Basic stuff for people when they stuck a floppy into there drive.
Ah ,they were the good old days.

I even done work in the dublin met service when i was 16 ,updating info for teagasc and updating the weather for teletext with an ansi based program.

RTM - Release to Manufacturer is the end of this year, Nov/Dec so if you buy a machine from Dell then, chances are you will get Vista
