right so i have 2000 installed on my laptop but i need 95 as well. so i created a partition and have the 95 install cd but it wont run, it says i have to run it through dos, which isnt on 2000. whats the easiest way to install this os on the partition then.

it wont boot off the cd either.

any help would be great, thanks.

if ur laptop has a floppy drive, create a bootable floppy, and boot off it. and start windows95 setup.

Not sure how win95 will take to 2k being already there tho..

Looks like you intend dual booting 95 with 2000.
If you havent set this up before, which it looks like you havent you may be better served downloading VMWARE here:
    http://www.vmware.com/download/server/

Into which you can install 95 and run 2000 and 95 at the same time.
Theres tonnes of documentation on this on the VMWARE site......

Generally you should install the older OS first and then the newer one. If it asks you if you wish to upgrade the old OS say no, and create a separate OS install.

It's a lot harder doing it the other way round. I think the VMware idea over complicates things personally.

    Exactly.

I have done this a couple of times, with 2000 Pro and XP. First install 95 then install 2000 as a new install. I made both partitions fat32.

You could back up your 2000 system, format hdd then start with 95. You can then restore 2000 once you have reinstalled it. Should work no problems. ;)

P.S. If you need a boot floppy www.bootdisk.com
