"Reconnect" is one of the most impressive and intelligently constructed Irish debuts in an age. In parts as po-faced as Interpol, it is at it's heart an abashed pop song fed astutely through new wave punk. Frontman Michael Moloney exudes and effortless cool with his sharp vocal delivery whilst those around him serve to make this one of the most exciting pieces of guitar music to come out of Ireland since the edge struck the last chord of "Out of Control". Were it not for those pesky Flaming lips, single of the fortnight without a doubt" - Hot Press.

Introducing Director who release their debut single, “Reconnect” on Friday week, April 21st through Atlantic Records.

Hailing from Malahide in Dublin, Director are Michael Moloney (Vocals/Guitars), Eoin Aherne (Guitars), Shea Lawlor (Drums) and Rowan Averill (Bass).

The band make meticulously crafted pop brimming with pointed hooks and astute instrumentation that simmers to perfection under the distinct vocals of songwriter Moloney.

Taking their musical cues from their early encounters with the classic songwriting of The Beatles, Steely Dan and Randy Newman, Director cite Beck, Grandaddy, Muse and The Strokes, as some of their modern day influences.

Director’s music is pop simplicity at its best: boisterous energy mixed with melodic sensibility. “Music is meant to excite people, it’s there for people to enjoy. That’s what we try to focus on” notes Aherne.

Director’s DIY ethos has moved them to produce “Reconnect” and the accompanying self-written and co-directed video is further testament that Director are very much a band with the intelligence to affect control over their career. “We’ve always had an idea of what we want, and the plan hasn’t changed. The Director album will be self-produced” adds Moloney.

“We take everything we do very seriously and any music which bears the name Director is the result of long hours of careful consideration” says bassist Rowan Averill. “Like anything, music requires development and you only make progress by putting in the time; but when you finally hit that magic combination the result seems effortless.”

The quartet have undergone a support slot on a sold-out UK and Irish tour with label-mates, Hard-Fi.

These Irish dates see them hook up new Atlantic signing and label-mates, Switches (7" single "Message From Yuz" due May 19th).

Following their Irish dates this month, Director return to the UK for a series of dates during May.

Already playlisted at Xfm in the UK, the band are heavily tipped by Music Week as "a band sure to enjoy a big year."
