Spots on Back

I dont really get spots on my face. Quite rare. But since I was a teenager, I have been getting spots on my back.

Now I am mid-20s. Dont get as many spots, but my skin feels rough and still spotty. Doesnt feel nice. Have a new BF and am very conscious of him touching me there.

Anything I can use/recommended to get rid of them/help my skin there?

Have never been to a doctor or derma about it. Dont think its that severe to merit that much intervention.

    Thanks.

I use Neutrogena visibly clear body wash it helps clear and prevent spots on back chest and shoulders. I find it absolutely brilliant using it everyday mine cleared up totally in about a week. I found it brilliant it it's only about 7 euro

Perhaps try experiementing with milder shampoos; some irritate my back and shoulders. Be wary of spot treatments as I find that sometimes they make it worse. If the area seems greasy make sure and wash well, perhaps with a back brush as your back often gets less attention than others in the shower every day.

This is true, things like clearasil and other "spot removers" can end up leaving you worse off if you quit using it after a while.
Try out a few different body washes, some can irritate certain peoples skin and that's what could be happening to you (providing you've been using the same one)

If it doesn't clear up go see your GP or even a dermatologist, either one will give you great advice.

I'm on the pill for my skin. Worked wonders.

It could also be your diet. Many people will say spots are down to hormones only, I know, as a previous spot victim, that my diet had pretty much everything to do with it. Sure even after you binge out on chocolate or sweets, you can begin to feel your skin tighten on your face.

Back exfoliater, which is easy to pick up in the body shop is really good 4 removing dead skin 4m your back and if you want to use a moisturiser or cream i would recommend checking to see if it contains oil cause the last thing you want is to put more oil on your back. Also if you have long hair make sure to rinse all shampoo off your back as this could be causing it-good luck:)

Its funny how this can happen isn't it:rolleyes: When I was a teenager if I got a spot on my face it was a rare occurance but got acne on my back, I could never figure this out. As I got older and a tiny bit wiser I started to exfoliate the skin on my back and used only the mildest of shampoos and shower gels as I really became aware of how very sensitive my skin was/is. After one sun holiday the spots cleared up wonderfuly as did the marks they had been leaving. That was it for years until last year when I had to come off my pill for knee surgery. My body reacted strongly to the anaesthetic and I began to develop spots again and blamed them on the anaesthetic never thinking that it was because I had gone back on the pill that my body was reacting to THAT. 6 months later I needed to get my other knee operated on and so had to come off it again and my skin both on my face and back went nuts and at the ripe old age of 28 it really bugged me. Eventually I turned to my friend google for advice about this and one site suggested a change of pill to a lower hormone dose. I went to my doctor who prescribed Yasmin for me and aswell as it being a contraceptive it is also prescribed to treat skin conditions. I've just begun my second pack of that pill and it has really really helped my skin. So maybe you should look at this for answers? Also eat pleanty of fresh fruit and veg and drink lots and lots of water to help cleanse your skin it works wonders and also keeps wrinkles at bay;)

Not the most healthiest of options but sunbeds work wonders too. Id do a course of about 8 sessions every few months as i suffer from exzema on my back and this clears it up totally for months at a time.

The neutrogena body wash though is very good, worth a try!

Make sure to exfoliate your back with a mild shower gel/ bodywash.

Use a soft loofah or something simiar to http://www.drugstore.com/qxp16490_333181_sespider/buf_puf/back_scrub.htm

Watch your diet. My brother had acne on his back and face when he was in his late teens. He found out that vodka really precipitated a flare up.

Massage also helps to clear out blocked pores. Make sure the therapist uses a light oil (jojoba is the best as it is light and is has a constituent like the skins natural sebum). Aromatherapy oils when chosen by a professional may help clear up the skin

I'm on the pill for my skin and it's great, a load of people I haven't seen in ages say that my skins really clear and I don't have spots on my back anymore, I never had a huge problem with it but did get them quite regularly. As said in a previous post, changing your shampoo or shower gel could help. Also try exfoliating it to get rid of the dead cells.

I'd never take a pill for acne, unless i was desperate. Thank God i'm not. Isn't it meant to alter your personallity and cause severe depression. I know have ing acne could make you self concious and stuff. Do the pros out way the cons?

Unfortunately some of us dont have the choice. The pro's definately outweighed the con's back when i was first going through agony with my face, neck, chest, back, arms, shoulders and scalp. I was prescribed it when i was 11 (had already gone through puberty) and it worked wonders for my skin. Spent more time in the hospitals with consultants than i did in school for a few months. any time I took a break from the pill, my skin flared up. I was advised by a pharmacists to get a lamp (cant remember what its called right now) for the times when I was on a break. And also to let my chest, shoulders and back out to the sun as much as possible (with protection obviously). The sun can work wonders.

Am currently on a break from it again and cant wait for the sunshine. Wash your hair hanging over the bath instead of in the shower. It might help a little. Change what shower gel you're using to something milder. Exfoliate properly on the area,...... and enjoy your guy. Dont get worried about it.

A lot of the contraceptive pills given to women have their origins in being manufactured to cure skin conditions so with guys a different drug is precribed but to all intents and purposes its a version of the pill without the contraceptive hormones.

The newer and more modern pills have been developed enough to stop that happening. Granted it make take a while to find one that suits you and your body best but when I was last with my doctor discussing this , she went to great lengths to explain this and the new developments to me.

Thread closed as it is quite a blast from the past. Plus, it borders on the provision of medical advice.
