This was posted a while ago, its time for another. I was watching a show on TLC last night called Honey, We're Killing the Kids. Where parents have to put their kids on a diet because they are getting too fat. Anyway one of the kids was getting fed up because they took away his televsion from his room. He took the bike out of the garage and packed up his video games and was going to run away from home.

How far did you ever get? Me..I got to the field next to my house with a bagful of supervalue shortcake biscuits..why I picked them I do not know because there were rotten! Euuughhh :)

I didn't even pack a bag, I put an extra jacket on and hid in a field near my house until half eleven at night. I got too cold and went home, I was scared going in because I thought I'd get into trouble but my parents had gone out and my brother was babysitting and he hadn't even noticed that I'd not been at home.:(

Seeing how this thread has deviated from the TV show mentioned...

I remember being in the park with my younger brother and him telling me he was running away from home (he had a plastic bag on tied to the end of a stick, didn't have a hankerchief). I ran home as fast as my legs could carry me to tell my Mam the alarming news. Her response?

Did he bring a jacket 'cos he'll die of the cold if he didn't!

Packed a small bag and made lots of maps but only got to the bottom of the stairs. The plan was to wear a disguise into the local newsagents the day after running away (a beret and sunglasses) to see if my friend and I made it into the national press, thought I'd become really famous. I was 7.

"7 year old runs away from home"

Reporter: So err.. little girl? (now 50 years old), how did you survive all this time?
You: I lived under the bridge near my home like that troll did in that book with the billy goats and charged people when they went by :)

ROFL, Yip, something like that. Thought I might actually meet Goldilocks in the forest I'd planned to go to too.:D

I was up nice and early ready to rock and on the way down the stairs i could smell a fry, the plan on running away diminished at that point. That was back in april. Just for the record my ma's fries are second to none.:D

I once packed up all my wordly goods into dunnes and H.Williams plastic bags, including a pink elephant shaped nightie case and announced I was running away to Blooms Hotel in Dublin city centre. I never went through with it but my family have never let me live it down!!!

I got as far as my front garden and realised I couldn't afford a train ticket to Dublin...

My mother tells me I packed my plastic Mr. Men lunch box when I was 5 and announced I was moving to New York, but I can't remember it myself. She said she nearly fell of her chair laughing, it was so ridiculous.

I did actually suceed in running away from home one night when I was about 10 to my grandparents house (it was an hour and a half walk away, so quite impressive in those days). My mum was so annoyed with me for worrying her when she found out where I was, she told me to stay there for the rest of the week!

I remember I had my guitar with crackers in the pick box of the case, and the family dog. I got half way down the road and my brother came running after saying "You can go, but the family dog stays with us!"
I didn't want to go alone, so I had to turn back home!
