The first pic is a nice portrait, but overexposed as you say so yourself. But you had bad light there to capture all detail of the horse without overexposing... did you try using fill-in flash? Or couldn't you get close enough?

The dog portrait is nice too, but the background is quite ugly, would have been better if you could use a studio like environment for that shot or a better background.

I prefer the shot of the dog. What I like most about it is the way the eyes turned out. Do you use flash? When I take photos of the family pooch and use flash I get awful red/orange eye effect. I have to bounce the flash if I use it. I would like to see the third shot with a higher resolution - it's a bit on the small side.

No flash used, I would say if I used flash that horse would be still galloping now. The picture of the dog was taken with a 50mm f1.8 so pretty good in low light... I will resize the last one, photobucket screwed it up.. Thanks for the comments...

Your a lucky git border ,I'd love to be involved with horse training etc.
Shots of horses make good framed photos I would say.

The last picture is a cross country event that anyone can go to and take pictures, I am going to try to contact some studs and go there for the day to take pictures as a kind o project. I have some lovely pictures of horses, I take lots of pictures of them in the yard where Spirit is and give them out to people, good practice....Here's a pic of Spirit...

Really like the second shot ,would be great to see them in the centre with less foreground.
    They both look so comfortable.

I forgot to say ,a couple of days ago when i was on my way to work I caught a glimpse of a donkey in someones front garden eating there lovely flowers ,the really funny thing was it was a old style cottage and the front gate was closed ,don't know how the thing got in or where it came from .
I should have had my camera.
Some things really remind you this is ireland.

I really like the pic you labeled 'jump'. can get a much better view in the larger pic, nice detail on the horse, rider is kinda overexposed. I would probably look better with a closer crop, to emphazise the horse. But all nice pics.

Thanks FuzzWuzzyWazza I havent got a chance to go over any of my pics, perils of digital. Mind you I hardly use PS anyway maybe just for a crop...
