There is no longer any Duty Free shopping internally within the EU. It's been gone since 1999.

Also, I'm not a smoker but offhand I think that tobacco products are just as expensive (if not more so) in the UK.

You can buy packs of ciggies from the bar on the ferry, I think they are about £2 or £2.50 on the ferry. I am not sure if there is a limit of what you can buy though.

Quick answer is that there is nowhere cheap to but cigs or tobacco in the UK.

Its close on €8 per 20 IIRC, but definitely way dearer than here.

You can buy them in small quantities on the ferry (you can going to France anyhow) and I dont think theres a problem with going back repeatedly.... ;-)
once they dont twig what youre up to

40 is the limit on the ferry, but if you sweet talk the staff they'll oblige you ;)
£2.50 a pack, I would advise you to stock up, e.g. cig vending machines in the UK are around £5.50-£6 for a pack of 16
    You have been warned! :)
