Byte you are right, there is a Network Scan on the fortec classic though no mention of it in the manual. My problem is as follows : I have connected 4 lnbs to a 4-way Diseqc got from Tony, the output into a 2-way diseqc switch along with the 5th lnb(19o).Trouble is I can get only 19o and one other sat ,athough I had them all working ok. Do I need a special 2-way switch? In the menu I have enabled the lnbs to 1.1 ;The only other option is Tone A,B and #1-15,plus repeat settings 0-3.
Another problem is the fortec box has introduced noticable interference, narrow, diagonal broken lines, worse on some channels.Vcr is ch 30,sat box ch 21.Any help appreciated

I dont think you can connect 1 diseq into another if i understand you correctly. As for the interference you should avoid channels 5 and 9 away from each other.

Very few receivers correctly manage or even have settings for cascaded Diseqc switches. In theory it can work.

Channels of modulators need to be 2 to 3 channels away from each other. Change the Fortec box to a different channel.

Since often RF modulators have harmonics you get less interference on TV aerial channels if the RF modulator is a channel higher than any.

    I use:
    31 for analog Sat receiver
35 for a modulator on PC Sat card
    39 .. 49 Is Woodcock hill 4 channels
    58 S-VHS
    61 Digibox "A"
    63 Digibox "B"
    65 or 66 (Backup TV3 Maghera)
    68 (Backup TG4 Maghera)

The number of repeats is important. This might help:

The Satlex site differentiates between 'committed' and 'uncommitted' Diseqc switches based on their postion between the receiver and LNBFs.

I stand corrected, it is possible

A bit more info on committed and uncommitted switches from a US site (http://www.10kb.com/fta/):

"These switches require FACTORY software in your FTA to operate properly,
1.0 means your receiver can operate Committed switches ONLY,
1.1 means it can operate Committed AND UnCommitted switches,
1.2 means it can operate Committed and UnCommitted plus DiSEqC motor controls.
2.0 is the same as above. 2.0, 2.1, 2.2 but the receiver can also receive information back from the switch, 2.0 switches receive the pulse command from the receiver, then change ports, they then send back a confirmation to the receiver, if a 2.0 receiver doesn't receive the confirmation it will send the DiSEqC pulse again and again until the switch confirms it is on the right port.

Putting 2 DiSEqC Committed switches on one cable is a no-no, which is why there are Committed and UnCommitted types of switches, a Committed switch is placed first in line (DiSEqC pulse comes from the receiver so first would be closest to the receiver), then you can hookup an UnCommitted switch to the Committed switch, the Committed switch will ignore the UnCommitted switches commands."

www.spaun.de and www.spaun.com have additional info and examples.

There are a number of manufacturers now making all-in-one 8-way units which can use either Diseqc 1.1 or Diseqc 1.2 commands:
