Anybody know if there are any compression utils that can be configured to compress certain types of files based on their extension.

e.g. I have a massive tree of directories. There are loads of files that can be compressed well, while there are a lot of large binary files that definitely will not compress. I want to be able to create an archive where the binary files are stored and everything else is compressed.

This would be quicker than zipping the whole directory using maximum compresssion.

Anybody follow what im on about? Anybody seen any utils that do this?

To answer me own question, winrar allows you to specify a set of filetypes which are only stored and not compressed within an archive..
