I realize that you rather won't flood me with 100 offers, but I will appreciate any advices and information - where to get, how much they pay, what kind of jobs are aviable etc.
By the way, what about some PPS number ? What's this ? Is that needed ?
And what about taking our own car with us ? I read somewhere that you may have your own car, but only until you don't work - then you need to get Irish plates, pay the insurence etc. which in our case would be rather senseless. Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
More information on PPS number here:
    http://www.oasis.gov.ie/employment/starting_work/personal_public_service_number.html?search=PPS+Number

www.irishjobs.ie or www.nixers.ie would probably be good sites to start looking on- possibly nixers.ie for the short term work.
Although it does depend on the kind of work you want.

    http://www.oasis.gov.ie/employment/working_in_ireland/coming_to_IE_tax.html?search=tax+foreign+car
    A good reference......
Actually, you will find a lot of answers to your questions on www.oasis.gov.ie

You can survive with your own car and plates for a quite a while. Don't worry. Plenty northerners (Northen Ireland) drive in the south for a long time before they change plates.

Advice on getting a job - do NOT admit that you'll just be staying for just the summer - they hate that. Say you're here for a year at least, just seeing what happens. Unethical perhaps but you'll find it much easier to get a job.

Remember thousands of irish students flood the streets looking for summer jobs as well, so it can be tough. That's more of a reason to say you'll be staying for a longer period.

"You must be already living in Ireland in order to apply for a PPS Number."

That sucks. How long does It take to get the number and If this is really needed ? We won't get a job without that number ?

"You will be asked to produce documentary evidence of identity and residence in Ireland."

Residence in Ireland ? So first we have to rent a flat ?

I checked those links and found for example something like this:

That best describe this job: Cleaner

    Minimum experience required: 1 - 2 Years

Are they serious ? I don't think that 1 - 2 Years experience is needed to clean things.

Is this possible to find these simple jobs like cleaning or working in the stores just like that, in few days after we already came there or we have to find something before we arrive ?

What kind of summer jobs Irish students are usually doing ? And how much cash are they making ?

You need to get one sorted out when you arrive. You need to bring a passport, and something which proves your address to your local Department of Social and Family Affairs office and they will get the procedure started.

You should find jobs like that easily enough, provided you arrive before the influx of students into the job market when the colleges/universities break up for the summer.

Worked in Social Welfare for a while last summer, getting a PPS number is not that hard as long as you have the proper documentation. If you know sum1 here you can give their address (with their permission of course!!!) but you must be able to support it with relivant documentation i.e an electricity bill, or Cable TV bill. You will also need a signed letter from the person whose name is on the bill to say you live there (temporary or otherwise). When you get sorted you can go back to them and change your address. You will also need your passport, and it must be valid and in date, because they can check to see if it is fake or not. You should expect to wait 2/3 weeks for your card to arrive in the post with ur PPS num on it and then you can officall start work!
Claiming Social welfare is a lot harder and not really worth it if you are only staying for a few months because the procedure can up to 3 months to clear (Not sure if this is the case still with foreign nationals).

Summer jobs generally pay minimum wage. Minimum wage for an Irish student is €7.65. However since you will have just arrived in the country, you will only be entitled to 70% - 80% of that.

If you want to drive your car in Ireland, you will need to be insured. Insurance in Ireland can be anything between €2,000 and €4,000 for a young person.

It's an employer's market. It's a frenzy to get summer jobs over here as you have thousands of people looking for a limited number of jobs. If you're coming over here to work, you will need to have a job in advance. I know people coming over for long-term contract jobs in the off-peak period and taking 2-3 months to find one, and those jobs are easier to come by.

If you've a foreign car, you can drive it up to 12 month without changing the rego/insurance/NCT, since you know you're leaving the country again. If you come here to stay permanently, you'll have to change the rego etc straight away, but not for a temporary visit. Bear in mind though that customs do check (especially during summer months), and they will fine you/or impound the car if you don't have proof you're leaving the country again (e.g. by a temporary contract or a return ferry ticket or a very good excuse).

Also, PLEASE make sure you're Polish car insurance covers you while in Ireland - otherwise you might be in for a nasty surprise should you have an accident.

Or if a garda pulls you over to check your vehicle.
