    You will need something with fast shutter speed that handles low light situations also. Never used this camera - have you thought of the Nikon D50, pick one up second hand cheaply enough.

    Should get something with 12x optical and image stabilisation, like Panasonic Lumix or Canon

    yeah that seems good for what you want...your hitting 300 euro there, its not THAT cheap, splash out a little more for a cheap slr and your gonna be able to get a camera with alot more possibilites. If you plan to take photography more seriously then a few photos at the match, and slr will give you alot more control over what your pictures can look like...saying all that the one you picked looks great.

    hes not interested in a cheepo slr i dont think, this seems perfect for what he wants, 7-8 matches a year,
