    Hi guys,

Can anyone suggest what type of aerial to get to pick up rte1,2, tv3 & tg4 in the galway city direction and if you could recommend any place to purchase it.

    Thanks in advance.

In Galway you need two aerials if you want to get all four channels

A VHF (band 3) aerial for RTE 1 and 2 and a UHF (Group E) aerial for TV3/TG4

The VHF aerial should be vertically polorised (i.e. mounted with the elements/rods vertical) and UHF horizontally polorised and pointing at the Maghera ("Gort") Transmitter

As far as I know there are no "deflectors" serving Galway city so If you need UK channels you have to get satellite, cable or MMDS

Depending where you are you might get Carn Hill Nr. Longford (all channels on UHF). Otherwise it is Maghera.

(About time Galway city got a repeater with all four on UHF like WoodCock. Sited it with directional aerial on north West Clare headland past Ballyvaughan.)

    Why for goodness sake ?
Are they not already getting a perfectly adequete signal from Maghera ?
Why take up another 32MHz of spectrum with yet another relay of a perfectly adequete existing service ?
