I'm conducting a wee survey (a few polls) at the moment (see the various sticky threads).

In this one I'm asking: How LEGAL is your audio collection? ... Here you can read "legal" as:
    • Ripped from your OWN CD's
    • Downloaded from a legal on-line music store

The poll is anonymous, so please answer truthfully.

How much of your music files collection is LEGAL? 72 votes

    None/almost none
    0% 0 votes
    Less than half
    23% 17 votes
    Roughly half
    40% 29 votes
    More than half
    22% 16 votes
    All/almost all
    13% 10 votes

    What's your position on allofmp3.com?

About 80% or so of my collection would be legal. I use iTunes music store a good bit too.

Most of mine is either ripped from my own cds, or downloaded from a paid for music service such as Emusic. Have to say that much of this is because my tastes in music is mostly classical and jazz, and its not easy to find this on illegal download sites, so I pay my way.

All the bands i listen to are ripped from cds. If i like the music I will buy the album. The rest! Meh

I used www.cdwow.ie for years. Spent thousands on that site. Kinda stupid cos I never use the cds, I always rip them to my laptop.

Discovered www.allofmp3.com recently. So I'm legal in Russia but not sure about here

BitTorrent sites release music before its even available to legally buy..... and I usually end up sucumbing to that. Its also a really good way of hearing weird but good new music that you wouldn't have risked buying (€24 in Virgin... could be an album of whale noises set to african drums.... no bloody thanks.... :D ).

But I do buy the original CDs of music that I really like, because I usually want the artwork and any bonus DVDs with them or whatever...

    All hypothetically, of course :D

It's legal in the country it's hosted in (Russia) and you ARE paying for the music - so, as far as I can see, yes, you've legally bought it.
