New Training Test put your training where your mouth is

I have an idea for a fight league/club that will put some ?'s generated on this site to rest.

I propose gathering two lists. List #1 guys who want to put their training to the test in a street attack. List #2 guys who want to be the testers. The testers shouldn't know the "training to the test" guys.

You wouldn't know when its going to happen or if its a real attack or not. The "tester" or "multiple testers" attack the "training to the test" guy and try to kick their ass. But not to the point of major injury. (ie. no rib kicks or soccer kicks if the guy is down)

The testers are not allowed to hurt anyone else that might be with the "training to the test" guy. For example Vinny wouldn't be allowed to beat up my wife while Barry is kicking my ass out side the Kings Head on Saturday night. We would also have it video taped so that it could be reviewed.

Of course you would have to sign a waiver. And if you pee'd your pants we wouldn't post that street attack on the web site. Unless of course it was Vinny. :D

    Did I miss anything?

    LOL!

Now everyone at work is looking at me funny. I was drinking tea when I started reading this. It came out of my nose and a little out of my eye...

Still, it put a bit of spice into an otherwise uneventfull day! :D

So does that mean I put my Kali training to test by beating on you guys with a stick? SWEET! :D. Maybe not outdide the Kings Head though, Mixers might be more fitting. :D

Funny how you're suggesting this shortly before you leave the country.

I take it you're volunteering to be a tester?

What are you worried about? I'm pretty sure your wife could take Vinny.

I have to admit the Irish have rubbed off on me, I might not be as serious as when I arrived on the Island, but I wasn't joking. In my opinion you have the doer's and the talkers/writers, I though we might have a few more doer's in MMA and TMA.

After reading the second response I did start cracking up at this idea. Signing up and being nervous about being jumped is funny and it might make a good martial arts comedy.

If others sign up I will volunteer to go first. But remember you better corner me because I have fleet feet.

Do the Kali guys practice throwing those sticks at running opponents?

Now that I think of it Melissa could take Vinny. All she would have to do is grab or threaten to grab his lovely head of hair and he would beg for mercy. He's the only guy I know that can roll or fight for 2 hours and have a perfect head of hair. And remember he doesn't use gel. ;)

But the number one rule is don't fight unless you have to so it would end up being like a 5 mile run with good motiviation i.e. if you are caught you get your ass whooped.

I am about to join a different TMA school and will probably practice grapling with another student who also has a background in it. I was thinking of doing the grapling in plain clothes as to get an idea of street fighting, do any of you do this??

Don't really throw the sticks to often, unless it's in frustration :D . But we do throw our blades how would that suit :D

a choke, armlock, takedown,a punch,a kick, the shredder all work the same whether your wearing shorts and t-shirt, a gi, or a gorilla suit

Of course you would have to sign a waiver.

Unless a lawyer is present at the signing, a waiver is worth toss all in a court of law. You can't sign away certain basic rights, and you certainly can't sign away any recompense for being injured without a lawyer present.

The most you can do is acknowledge that you are aware of the risks, and even they, you'd better hope you have a good insurance policy for that first broken bone...

LOL at some people taking this seriously.

Mick, I had a gorrila suit once with a large, hardened pastic face that went right down to my clavicle. I would be unchokable if I rolled in that.:D

By the way, what are "street clothes"? Something different to just "clothes". Why does everything change once we get talking about self defence?

Maybe they are camo, clothes that actually look like a "street". That way, if attacked, one can just lie down and you attacker will not be able to see you.

    Sweet. ;)

I keep forgetting I'm not in the land of the law suit. Well if any of you come to America let me know and a waiver will do the trick. I don't see any issues with being attacked with one of those Kali sticks. Just indicate on your application form that you are requesting a stick attack. Knives and guns are out side the scope of this test but it might be fun from time to time to see if anyone pee's their pants. I like the street clothes camo concept. If you pass your test we will give you a special street tested badge. But if you fail the test we will give you a set of street camo clothing incase you are attacked in the future you can just lay down and hide. In discussion yesterday someone mentioned multiple attackers, if you think your good enough just indicate that on your application and we can make that happen.

LOL, will the street camo clothing have chewing gum marks on it and everything?

well to start with UFC is topless, a hood can be pulled over your head a lot easier than a t shirt. Jeans aint as easy to move in as shorts, gi etc etc, dress shoes are harder to move in and generally have a sole with less grip than runners.

so again does anyone here train in the likes of jeans and jumpers, cos as pointed out they are not the same

I also said street clothes cos if i had asked "does anyone here grapple in clothes", I would have got the response no we grapple naked

If you are someone without any grappling game then I really wouldn't worry about it for the time being!

Class post Scott and lmao at a couple of peeps taking it seriously. You do know that Vinny is allergic to technology (which is why he's had 15 mobile phones none of which worked) so he'll never see this!

    Mark,

Side note did you send in our team entry forms to Tim or should I send it to him today? Vinny did pick up a new phone but I'm sure is busted already.
