concentrate on old school rocknroll, rockability and blues style guitar licks - chuck berry, muddy waters etc also some stuff by the meteors

meteors stuff is pretty basic.I agree with the learning some Rockabilly and them vamping it up a bit.Check out the Guana batz or skitzo for some basics.I used to play double bass in a psycho band a while ago [ which is now gathering dust in my living room]!

Listen to the Stray Cats. Brian Setzer is the king of rockabilly guitar.

Setzer is indeed the king of rockabilly guitar but have you ever tried to copy him?Mark Harmon from restless is quite good and in a psycho style Simon Brand from Torment can play a bit.
On a different note......what is teh psycho scene like in the south now?It has pretty much died out up here bar a few die-hards.I hear that King Kurt is playing Dublin soon, any truth in that?We have Restless playing Belfast in june/july I cant recall the exact date.

I have some horrorpops stuff, the girl singer is the girlfriend of the bass player in the nekromantix apparently.I think he plays guitar in the band as well. She has this custom made double bass which is weird looking mind you the guy from the nekromantix plays a coffin shaped one.The reverend Horton Heat is putting out some good stuff, worth a listen.

I ve had mine for about 18 years now I think.A west german make which was slightly more expensive than the spanish model most guys had up here, mind you I worked in a music shop so I got a good deal.Still expensive though.Im amazed there are still some guys listening to the music now.I used to lean more toward the easier side of the scene with the like of the Deltas, guana bats, frenzy etc.although I recall a great lot of bands from Dublin like, spellbound, the klingonz,sharkbait/scared stiff.any of them still around?
