Getting a Receipt reprinted?

Does anybody know if it's possible to get a receipt reprinted? Specifically from DID.

I got a Philips DVD Recorder for Xmas 2004. Long story short, it's a big pile of poo. Got on to Philips wanting a new one/ replacment. They want a receipt. It was a gift but I know the day and near enough the time it was bought.

Would I be at anything asking for a copy of the reciept?

Not a hope in hell, I'd say. It's over a year old for God's sake. Did it really take you that long to realise it was crap?
    What a chancer!

    No smart arse!

Philips were promising the issues would be ironed out with the firmware upgrades. They never were.

Most likely no, but go down to the shop and be on your best behaviour. If payment was made by cc, maybe (bring that receipt/statement). If made in cash, no way imo.

Copies for cash sales can only be obtained (from most stores) until the till operator logs off or for a few hours after the transaction is made. The transactions are kept in a history log much like your internet history and its deleted on a fairly regular basis IIRC

I don't think you have a chance to be honest. If you could get receipt copies, there wouldn't be those "no receipt, no return" policies.

However, if Philips have released a faulty item and they recognise that fact, shouldn't they be doing a product recall or entertaining your complaint purely because you own something they know is faulty?

They did email me back when I compained. They know this model DVD Recorder is sh!te judging from the reviews on the web of it they HAVE to know.

They seem willing to repair/ replace if I can provide the receipt.

They will have to look up the receipt number in the back office and then should be able to print off the recept from the till but its a bit of work for them and good luck getting it done. Only a manager etc. could do it for you.

I'd imagine if I went in, as said on "best behaviour", acknowleding it isn't their fault with a puppy dog look at my face I might have a slim chance :D

Nonsence. Every till has to keep a record by law. THere are actually two till reciepts on an old till. DID also use a more detailed system than a simple system.

I doubt the store will do it either way as you have no proof you bought it from them. Philips should just be able to use the serial number. DID might do it this way too.

Perhaps if worst came to the worst, the manufacturer could track it by serial number. most serial numbers are logged, and if they search hard enough (which they probably wont, but hey ho) they could tell what distributor it went to, what shop it went to, and therefore tie in with your claim as to when and where it was bought. Kind of a last chance scenario, but you never know.

If I can tell them the day and date and around the hour when it was bought, surely then it's not a case of me just being some chancer looking for a receipt for a knicked DVD player or what ever?

Just got an email back from DID asking what phone number would have been left for contact when it was purchased. So it's not a no straight away anyway.

I'll let you know how I get on.

    Fair play to DID.

The guy emailed me back, he has a copy of the repeipt even offered to post it out to me.

Now I have to say that's good customer service.

Good stuff. I find DID are always good to deal with, I always buy off them if I can. They also refund double the difference if you find a product elsewhere so you can't lose buying with them.

(I don't work for them but believe in credit where credit is due!!)

Yeah I'm the same, credit where it's due. Just went down and collected it.
    Fair play to them.

I work in an electronics store and we can print out any receipt of anything that's ever been sold, so from maybe the last 5 years. We can do it very easily too. But I don't work in DID so have no idea about them.

where I work we cant print off copies of receipts. If the customer can provide a day and time of purchase we can look up the transaction number and write out a copy.

Even if it can be done, I'm sure they wouldn't do it for you. Companies are like that.
