Problem after hard drive move

I posted a week ago regarding my plan to install a new (2nd) hard drive in my PC. I did this over the weekend. However, after restarting the computer, I have run into problems. When playing music in iTunes, the 1st song skips a little bit, but this stops after a while. When playing Oblivion, I have gone from achieving a smooth framerate to an extremely poor one. Also, it took me 10 minutes to install a game from DVD last night, which I though was exceptionally slow.

Does this sound to anyone else a problem with accessing the primary hard drive? What was involved in the 2nd hard drive installation: had to remove the primary hard drive to make space; likewise, I had to remove the graphics card temporarily. Disconnected the ribbon connecting the DVD drive, the primary hard drive to the motherboard. Installed the 2nd hard drive, re-installed the primary hard drive and graphics card, connected all via IDE ribbons to the motherboard. Could I have damaged the ribbons somehow? I certainly didn't give the primary hard drive a knock, but could have damaged it I suppose.

    Any ideas?

Are you using 80-wire cables for the hard disks, assuming you have the two on the one cable? Using a 40-wire cable on two disks can degrade performance.
