Holy mother of Jesus - I have just realised that I had blanked Cortinas out of my childhood memories coz every time we got into them we had to get out to pushstart the fecking yokes. Those old 70's & 80's cortinas are the reason I have never ever bought a Ford since I stopped living with my parents. I have had a Fiat Tipo, Nissan Sunny, Suzuki Vitara, Fiat Marea, Isuzu Trooper Citreon ZX & now a Saab 9-3.

Maybe some day if I get over the irrational fear of Fords that Cortinas gave me in my childhood I will become my father and buy a Ford but it would want to be a reliable one thats for sure!

Nice pics Corktina - was going to go but was on nights last night.:(

The admission charge seems a bit strange alright but €5 is not much these days for anything.

Was there any nice Alfa's or Italian cars there? :)

Should have gone to this instead of citywest!

I think €5 is fairly reasonable, but it should have been €5 across the board.

Just back from Durrow myself, there was only 1 Alfa there - mine :) Felt kinda special and lonely at the same time :)

Great selection of cars except very few Italian cars - nice '36 Fiat Topolino there along with heaps of Mini's, Manta's, Capris, Yank tanks even a Model-T that got pimped into a hot-rod.

Nice drive down as well, followed a couple of tasty Jags from the Red Cow and plenty of open road to open her up a bit :)

Ya, the fee was a bit weird alright - I don't paying a fiver but at least make it the same for everyone.........

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 17,733 ✭✭✭✭corktina

yeah...dont get me wrong, i dont mind paying the fiver, especially as I assume it was for a good cause, but pity the man in the 1971 car following his mate in an identical 1970 car.....wouldnt a 30 year cut off be more logical...same as the road tax i mean... btw i would estimate that 80% of the cares were 1970/1980 and ...yes 1990's...(two '98 jags there.....crazee or wot?

I just think a fiver all around and better prizes would be better myself.

What was the story with the entry fee? I got in free with the Fiat a 1971 car, but I heard passengers were being charged seperate entry even in pre 70 cars. space again was a problem with the autojumble in 2 different locations taking up a lot of space. The commercials were buried round the back. It was a fantastic turnout of cars and machinery but I heard a lot of comments about poor stewarding. I got there at 12 and the place was full and exhibitors after that had to park in the spectator car park although a lot of modern cars were parked in the auto jumble area. I'll be getting there for 10am next year!

Hey alfarocks, seen you at the red cow up to city west, sweet motor. Herself says as we're on the slip road, should we not go to Durrow, No I says, like the thick that I am.
Hey Corktina, we paid 7 quid each into city west just to line some fat cats pockets, not a good cause in sight.

If they have a venue that's short of space it sounds like a good idea if it were 25 or 30 years limit, as I have been to a few here and the UK that look more like a used car lot.
I know that each car has a pride of place with its owner but cars or models just finished or still in production can be seen and bought any where.
One show I went to in England had PT Cruisers at it.

Am packing up to move at mo so hadn't time to go to Durrow, but did have get the chance for a rip with 68 before the rain.

I spoke to the man behind it last night and he is going to e-mail the moderators on this forum to see if he can post some info about it on here but its going to be a monthly covering cars and tractors in the 32 counties.
