On South William street, right next to the Hideout - for all you gaming needs. It's got nearly 50 consoles all connected via system link and a VIP section where four consoles are hooked together through four plasma screen TV's that you and yours can play from two most comfortable leather couches.

It opens tommorow at the discounted (one time only) rate of 2 euro an hour and will be operating from next week as Ireland(and indeed Europe)'s first and only XBOX Live Gaming Centre.

Seriously, I suggest Anyone who is into XBOX gaming get themselves down to this place to try it out. It is absolutely bitchin'.

I was in there yesterday, it was free on the first day. Its class if you get a load of mates in to. All games there are 65.99 which is funking deadly and they have loads og accessories. Costs about 7euro an hour and then 1.25 every 15mins after that. I'd recommend it

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 224 ✭✭dan_y

It's 5 euro an hour off peak (before 6 on weekdays) 6.50 on peak (after 6) and the 7.50 on peak weekends (after 6 Friday, Saturday and Sunday). And you can rent out the 4 plasma screen VIP section for 40 euro an hour (10 each). It's got to be about the sweetest deal ever...

Is this advertising or a recommendation from a customer?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 906 ✭✭✭FuzzyWuzzyWazza

whay would I want to pay ~€7 an hour to play Xbox, when I can do it at home for free. And if I want to play with a bunch of mates, we can hook up on LIVE! or just setup a LAN........ I don't see the point of this place at all.

I'd say this is just advertising at it's best... but hey if your into that sort of thing, go nuts!

I thought it was just €5, €7 is too much. I hope they do well and it survives, but I doubt I will be making many trips. €65 for games is good enough though.

“Centre is a revolutionary concept in multiplayer gaming. A super fast broadband enabled console environment with the best Audio Visual equipment”.

It's a gaming cafe with just Xboxes... and an Xbox shop.

    PS2 man takes a stab.....

The wording is indeed quite over the top, but it IS the only xbox LAN café in europe afaik, so there trying to jazz it up. Walked by it on sunday, not open though, looks alright. I suppose it's a good way for non-xboxers to experience online gaming for the first time. Especially if there considering purchasing a machine for themselves.

It is open, it's on south william street, and its like an internet café, but with xboxs. So It's basically a LAN you pay to play.

it's not just for live arcade games. it's an arcade for All xbox and xbox 360 games. and they're the only shop in dublin who offer try before you buy. you play it in the arcade for an hour and if you decide you want it, they knock the price of the arcade off the price of the game. it's also slightly more social than sitting at home at 2am desperately waiting for xbox live to find a connection. think of the halo tournaments...

Halo's still well better though

Thats a really good idea the way they knock the price off the game if you take it. Might get my games in there in future instead of getting them online. Seems like the prices arent too bad and it wont take ages for it to arrive. My oblivion was ordered on the 3rd of april and it hasnt turned up yet :(

OT: Keyser what is your signature about?? Boycott EA? 3rd last game you played was EA's madden nfl?

hey and I also found out they're doing free membership for the first couple hundred customers. I was in there yesterday and they're already up to 82(me!). and it's still 2 euro an hour...

Man Halo is so last year, its GRAW's year.

microsoft released a list of "who's playing what" (offline & online) in terms of hours played... and halo2 topped the list by a country mile, it was done just before graw's release but i'd doubt it'll knock halo2 off

you never gave it a chance. the latest updat was a bit poo though cause it ruined big team battle. but the assault and CTF games are the best parts and probably are in graw too but everyone always does bloody team slayer.

Graw good multiplayer game, but cant really compare it to halo, both too different. Halo, best console fps, halo2 best xbox live fps, but halo1 still better..significantly.

    Hi guys,

I have been reading the thread for a while so I thought I'd say hi and let you know what we're all about.

We have a centre in the middle of town that is packed with Xbox and Xbox 360's, and we're good to go for LAN gaming. Just call in either by yourself any play online over Xbox Live or wait for a few more people to come in playing your game and switch to a LAN. It's good craic as I hope our customers so far will say.

    Opening hours:
    Mon-Thurs 10am - 12am
    Fri & Sat 10am - 2am
    Sun 12pm - 12am

Rates: €20 deposit required on the door.

    10am - 6pm Mon-Sun €5 per hour
    6pm - 12am Mon-Thurs €6.50 per hour
    6pm - Close Fri-Sun €7.50 per hour

We're commencing signup for all our leagues and tournaments at the moment, and we're giving away free membership right now in-store. You need to be a member to enter tournaments or post on our leaderboards, and we're running a mix of game leagues to get things going, and will be bringing more on board regularly. We're also doing corporate events and staff events, as well as setting up company, clan and industries leagues.

Preference over one games system, to another isn't foolish, it's choice.

Does anyone know if you can create a private LAN game in the centre with say, 5 or 6 mates, or is there only one LAN game going on at a time?

    CHEERS!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 27 name_less

hey - the xbox centre is running a 'free half hour of gaming' promotion till 6 today. there's been a full 16 player halo lan going on upstairs for hours. and they've got master chief - the staff are strolling around town with him right now - check this out xboxlivegamingcentre.bebo.com

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 321 ✭✭nicryan

there's not only 1 lan going on in there and it could be arranged to have a private lan for you and your mates.

and it wasn't staff who were running around town with the master chief - we're just mates of jamie who were giving him a hand and he was paying us in beer - but shane only found that out after he'd bought his beer...

    Hey,

Well you just set up a system link game, and put in the settings of the game to make it private and then it's just you and your mates in. You can always join into another game if you want a bit of a different challenge.
