Building in Galway

Hi
Does anyone know where i can find out about building in Galway. What criteria I will have to meet. I will be moving from another county and would like to build.

I think I have the Galway Development plan somewhere if you are interested.
Email the council and they should be able to send you on some info.
A lot of councils are now running pre-planning clinics where you can meet the planners themselves and discuss you intentions..

Naux

There are major restrictions on once off house builds within a 15km radius of Galway City. In order to get planning permission within this radius you need to prove a housing need and be intrinsicaly linked to the area you wish to build in. If you have no links to Galway the only way to selfbuild within 15km is to buy a site with planning permission granted under the previous development plan. At this stage I think that all of these should have run out (ie) over 5 yrs old. Outside the 15km you should have fewer problems getting planning permission I think.

Outside 15km may be restricted also. Housing need also needed on Urban fringes of the major towns in Galway e.g. Loughrea. Unless you have some connections to the area you may have difficulties.

I didn't know that:eek: ..............major restriction in moving to Galway from elsewhere isn't it. Is it the same in other counties I wonder??
