If the stories on the internet are anything to go by, he's a grade A asshole. He's not interested unless you have loads of money or are famous. Who sued him recently? OLP/MusicMan was it?

Supposedly good to deal with untill he's got your money, and you end up with a knock-off that he machined up in his chop-shop.

You could order a guitar from him, but under no circumstances expect to get what you pay for.

I know someone who ordered a guitar off him and got screwed over.

the word on the street is that he's a bell end who sells cheap fakes and overpriced crap.

All I can say about Ed Roman is that he literally can not possibly be as bad as some people say he is on the Steinberger forum.

They hate him everywhere. Every single instrument-related message board I've been to, there's always a thread about Ed Roman. Always. There's a thread about him here, isn't there?

In fairness, some of his rants on his website are pretty funny (although the bottom line usually is "buy from Ed Roman, everything else is crap").
He must have some redeeming features, surely? How else could he keep in business?
I first heard of Ed because his site is linked to from Buck Dharma's site. Buck is by all accounts a pleasant and level-headed chap so maybe he sees a side of Ed that no one else sees?
Also the photo gallery of his shop on the website is pretty amazing.


Still, maybe its all done with Photoshop?

No, apparently he's got one of the biggest guitar shops in the world. So I doubt that's photoshopped.

I don't really know how he keeps in business, but in all honesty, being a nice guy doesn't mean you'll get sales.

I totally agree with you, Karl. But you would think that being the most notorious rip-off artist in the guitar world would tend to be bad for sales?

Unfortunately for some, not everyone has the internet, and even then, not everyone is aware of Ed's reputation. Maybe some people buy from him simply because he's got the biggest shop, and they they bigger = better. Who knows?

Yes, in the unlikely event I was ever in Las Vegas I would definately love to visit that shop :rolleyes: but I can't imagine I'd buy anything there.
