I use an external harddrive to back up my stuff. you can pick one up for 60 or 70 euros in argos or a pc store. they are the best way to back up files in my opinion because it saves you having to store evrything to 101 dvds or cds.

eh? what language are you speaking?

A rare language used by the rare people of gondwania on planet zuppy called TXt SPK  It's against the rules to use it too. If your typing is terrible get the google toolbar and it will spellcheck every form you fill including the boards reply thingy.

As for backing up I regularly back up about 8Gigs once a month to two DVD-RW's when my month is up I come along and write to two more and erase the two back-up's ready for re-writing next month. I back up "My Documents" to one DVD and "My Pictures" to the other, I also back up things like saved games and downloaded drivers too. Having lost everything with a virus a year ago it has thought me a thing or two about backing-up. I just burn them normally using Sonic record, but there is special Back-up softwares available. just back them up and check they wrote properly, If the worst happens you can always re-load them onto the PC after a format or whatever. Once you have them even if your PC is annihilated you can always get them after on another PC. Backing Up is good, External HD is best but pricey compared to Blank Cd's and DVDs.

i've the same problem, i've close to 18 gig of pictures, 120 gig of music and bout 100 divx's... i'm considering grabbing an old pc and sticking in the attic with a 500 gig drive and network it...so expensive tho...i want blu ray now

ya it looks as though blu ray will be the way to go alright. it will probably bring down the price of <100GB external hard drives to about 99p!

    What's blu ray?

EDIT: Just googled, hmm, 54GB max per disc, would be good for some things but I'm sure it will be quit expensive at first?

I don't think it would bring down HD pricing either?

Also, a 12cm diameter disc can only hold 54GB compared to the new PMR HDs of 80GB which are 6cm x 8cm.

Which is safer to back up onto regardless of conveniance though? Which is more likely to give errors after say a year of non use? A DVD or a HD?
