Need a bit of help. I'm havin about eight or nine people over for a home game on good Friday, and most of them would be pretty inexperienced players. I'm wondering what way to structure it. I don't play a lot of home games as only a couple of my close friends play. I'm looking for something that will last a few hours and keep most people involved, as it'll be leaning more towards havin a good night than winning a few quid. I'm thinkin about maybe a multi rebuy tourney with maybe 30 min levels, what advice can yiz give?

i think 30mins would drag on. i usually play 20mins and use a slow blind structure. i think have maybe 2/3 buybacks per person if they're fairly new. this gives people a chance but cuts out messing as well. have a limited time (maybe 1 1/2hr - 2hr) then maybe a top up. play freezeout after this. chips wise i'd start with 5,000. this gives loads of play with buybacks. good luck with it. dont clean youre friends out!!!

Cheers mate, that sounds good. I won't be able to resist cleanin' them out though, after all I'm providing all the beer!!

Might be a better idea to have a series of STTs with lowish starting stacks (30ish BB) and quickish blinds (12 mins). The new-ish players will go out fairly early but wont have to sit around too long - but hopefully long enough that they'll think about starting hand requirements etc. And they can watch how the more experienced players play the game. Hopefully by the 2nd or 3rd STT they will realize that calling all-ins to 'keep people honest' isnt a valid tactic.
I tend to find if you allow rebuys then they just repeat the same errors.
Usually at least 1 of the novice will sneak a 2nd or 3rd place - which is what you want really.
Then in future house games you can play an MTT/deeper stacks etc.
    Just a thought.
