There isn't an online option, it's a single player game.

why does it say xbox live on the front of the cover

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,370 ✭✭✭Timans

    There is downloadable content. ;)

Because EVERY game is "xbox live" you can be signed in, voice chat, dlc, etc.... read the BACK of a game box to find out if "online multiplayer" is supported.

I don't think that is entirly true Grumpy, although very nearly. In order to be "Live" a game has to interect with the web in some sense outside of the standard which games you have played, etc..

One of these ways includes downloadable content, that's where Oblivion gets in. Another way, are leaderboards (say for speed through the game), that's where condemned gets in.

Not every game is live though, King Kong is not.

So a game being "Live" does not mean that there is multiplayer capabilities but just some sort of dynamic or "live" capabilities, so if your looking for multiplayer; as Grumpy says, check the back or read up before hand.

Yes, you did mention that dlc enabled a game to carry the live tag, I did not repute that, simply backed it up and removed your abbreviation that the OP may not have understood.

I challenged your view that EVERY game is live, because they are not.

Yep, I agree with all of the above, but

If a game has Xbox LIVE! on it it mus have some interactive 'LIVE!' feature, such as DLC, otherwise it is just 'LIVE! aware' as all 360 games are as far as I know, such as chat and friends logining in and such.

EVERY 360 game IS live though, find me a 360 game to date, that hasn't got some sort of content download, be it pictures, themes, videos etc (although game not needed for most of these) each, and every 360 game will, or has some form of dlc, such as extra levels, co-op (kameo for instance) or new maps, (pdz pretty soon) The "xbox live" logo doesnt mean its multiplayer, it simple means the game can be played signed into live, and have some sort of dlc, or leaderboard functionality. "xbox live aware" is a term not used for 360 games afaik, as the xbox used that-(fable for example) with fable for instance, it simply meant you could be signed into live, whilst playing it.

Don't you get gamer points for playing king kong

Grumpy is right, there is some form of net useage for every game

Every game isn't live! Example, if anyone has tomb raider, check the top right corner it doesn't say 'xbox live'. And there is no downloadable content or anything in the game!

Just as a side note, the two new downloadable things for Oblivion, are coming out soon, both cheaper and bigger than the poxy horse armour one!

    The Orrery
The Orrery allows you to help the Mages Guild of Cyrodiil repair the Imperial Orrery, an ancient dwarven machine with mystical properties. Bandits have stolen a shipment of parts destined for the Arcane University; if you can return them, the Orrery will function once more.

    Features
    * A new, full-featured quest, including dialogue, journals, and rewards
    * Access to the Imperial Orrery in the Arcane University, an incredible mechanical marvel
    * New powers available for your character based on the phases of the moons

    The Wizards Tower
Located high in the Jeral Mountains of Cyrodiil away from prying eyes, this Wizard's Tower, Frostcrag Spire, will become available. Packed with numerous useful enhancements, this structure will prove invaluable to magic-oriented characters.

    Features
    * A fully detailed tower for you to explore
    * A breathtaking view of Cyrodiil from the highest point in the land
    * Simple furnishings including a bed for leveling up
    * An indoor botanical garden with over 130 specimens... including Oblivion-native herbs!
    * Summon Atronach Familiars that obey your commands
    * Instant teleports to every Mages Guild in Cyrodiil
    * New Spell and Recharge vendor in the Imperial City
    * Fully upgrade the furnishings in your lair to suit your needs
    * Upgrade to a fully functional Enchanting and Spellmaking station with no need to join Mages Guild
    * Upgrade to a laboratory that buffs your Alchemy skill

Sounds good, but I ain't going to be shedding out money for it.

The problem with these things is that your told exactly what they involve. So if I buy the wizard tower I'm going to know there's a wizard tower and I'm going to go to it and I'm going to expect all the things that are there. There's no sense of surprise like when you just discover things or go on random quests you get offered in the game.

Of course there's not much you can do about it, people aren't going to pay for it unless they know what it is so kinda catch 22 situation.
