sky+ versus ntl

    have ntl ,considering getting sky with sky plus for extra few euros a month.can i get a 2nd hand sky+ recorder anywhere?probably worth spending 149europ on new one,is sky much better than ntl?

    It depend... The BB + Phone + pay TV if you want pay Sport is hard to beat.

    If you only want FREE TV, then getting Sky and downgrade to 2 mix packs and then cancel in a year is good. You own all the gear from day one and out of the 200+ Free TV and 70+ Free radio, you would like maybe 45 TV and 20 Radio.

    Sky+ has a recording rental and will neither play or record without a sub, just turning into a Free To Air Receiver (FTA)..

    Alternate receivers with HDD / PVR will work on Satellite / Sky channels, but only the free channels, these start at about 350 Euro excluding DISH 7 LNB

    A FTA system without recording is around 170 Euro.

    The quality on UTV / BBC is better (Sky+ won't record any ITV channel, and only BBC1 NI and BBC2NI , but you can watch, a FTA Satellite non-Sky recorder WILL record all ITV and all BBC channels)
