    Alright lads,

Im using Utorrent with Eircom broadband (Wired) and xp SP2.

The only thing is my ports arent setup to be forwarded correctly, any body successfully set this up and forwarded the ports.

If so can you please post the procedure used and also any examples...

Ive tried port forward.com, but its still not working!

Any ideas or suggestions please post.

    Cheers lads

    http://www.portforward.com/

everything you need to know about port forwarding, instructions for most apps and most routers;)

I did mine the other day in a few minutes.

Utorrent has a feature that checks if a port if forwarded, so you can check if you did it correctly

I tried that but the port i forwarded didnt seem to work.

Should i be using the private address i.e 192.168.x.x or the public address!

No matter what way i try it it keeps saying that it is not forwarded, starting to wreck my head

    Any ideas

You have to set a Static Ip address in the Control panel, If you are using a router, your PC is handed a new IP address after every reboot so it wont work.

Set an IP like 192.168.0.1 it is the private address, and you forward its port outside the NAT of your firewall;)

So just set a static IP the follow the process on the port forward.com page...

Ill give it a go later, i wasnt setting a static IP, so hopefully that'll sort it out!

Theres nothing else i need to do then???

    Cheers again man

Lads im running Zone alarm and Sygate as firewalls!

Just thinking would these be affecting the sppeds and port forwarding?

eh ok, are you using a wireless modem? I know you might be wired to it but it does it have the capabilities of wireless. If so I can explain the steps to forward ports on that router, also you'll have to forward the ports on whatever firewalls you are using. I don't know anything about zone alarm, but there should be an option to allow certain programs, and the option to set up forwarded ports.

So in recap, to get utorrent working, forward ports on all your firewalls and on your router, if you see anything called NAT in your router option, enable the option "static NAT address". Not sure what it does but mine wouldn't work without doing it.
