What a fúcking scumbag  According to the comments, the other guy has 4 months experience. Some introduction to the world of MMA that is.

yes hes a scumbug; with that much bjj experience he should be able to tap people without doing damage. guys like that shouldnt be allowed compete. seems to be a brazilian thing. if you watch the highlights of royce gracies fights from the early ufcs you can see him breaking peoples arms well after they've tapped.

    Man, thats pretty rough alright!!!!

Am i alone in thinking that a BJJ blackbelt should have been able to show a little more control of the move????

Maybe i'm wrong here and a Kimura can end up with a freak injury like that if you can't defend it correctly????

Some input from the more skilled posters would really be appreciated here!!

Jesus lads, this has been talked to death on every other MMA board and basically everyone (including Mads Mekkers who got his arm broken) agreed it was a freak accident. JP is a BJJ black belt and if he had wanted to break the dudes arm like that he couldn't have. A kimura would rip the dudes shoulder or elbow, not break the forearm.
Anyway, JP was disqualified which annoyed him because it made it look like he did it intentionally. He also was annoyed about BJJ blue and purple belts telling him whats too fast reguarding putting on shoulder locks.
Teh other point of contraversy was that BJJ BBs have never taken part in this tourney, they usually sign up and then get asked to super fight. But JP had signed up under his Danish name not his brazilian name, to his defence he said that no one knows him anyway. He also gave a list of the competition and it was pretty high. Mads also didnt move like he only had 4 months experience (in my opinion) but JP had no idea either way.
I think its a horrible break but an accident, maybe it could have been avoided but an accident none the less.
Also people have said that JPs previous opponent had his elbow popped have turned out to be false.

    Peace

Sh*t. Probably because I've broke a few bones in my time, but my stomach turns when I see someone getting a bone broke like that. Otherwise I've a super strong tummy.

Yup, it looked very much like he did it deliberately. Decent of him to stick a public apology up online.

Not that i'm an expert. But this accident was a freak accident and would be very unlikely to happen. Unlike rugby and boxing which have some injuries that go with the turf, that may still be accidental but are common (concussion, broken clavicle, hand injuries) in submission wrestling bone damage is very rare and serious muscle and ligament damage is quite rare.

it was a freak accident. i've heard of some nasty stories from judo too. it's 1/10000 type stuff in my opinion.

I have to agree, I think it was just 'one of those things', and judging from the guys (the Brazillian lad) reaction it was totally unintentional.

    But damn, that SNAP

    Thanks lads....

Those ones are a bit too close to home for me.... had my semi-dislocated elbow put back right yesterday morning by a chiropractor.. ouch! :(

Was wondering why the injury was taking so long to heal

People love to report those things. In the last Ring of Truth III it was reported that Stu Edgeworth had his elbow dislocated by Mick Leonard. But while the armbar was on tight, and Stu refused to tap, his elbow wasn't dislocated. However even Irishfighter reported it dislocated. People love gore I guess.

Wow, did that injury go a while unnoticed? At least you got it treated properly. I assume you'll need some rest before getting back on the mat? Can you tell us how it happened in the first place?

No it didn't go unnoticed at all... went to the physio after the swelling and bruising went down a bit and she thought it was damaged ligaments and tendons. Then went again after a week, when it wasn't improving and still puffy, she got the chiropractor to have a look at it. I have been training, but just using one arm which is difficult, some movements weren't painful at all.
I'm off to the US tomorrow supposedly for 10 days of BJJ.... hopefully I'll be able to do some training next week.
How it happened.....A particularly boney pelvis came from a height onto the inside of my arm.

Ouch Maeve! I had the same injury. Someone armbarred me but it went to the side a bit, there was a *pop*pop* as the elbow came out and went back in to place, but not fully. About two weeks later (and after a lot of discomfort) it "righted" itself as I was swinging a lump hammer. There was a *pop* as I swung the hammer back and I had to let go, it fell on to my leg, giving me a nasty bruise, and I thought my elbow had popped out. In fact it had popped back into place.

After that incident I promised myself I'd go to a physio after every injury!
