    Hey!
I pulled this Board.JPG out of the press to try some overclocking before i got my new board,(i've been told that my p4/1m/800 are good for clocking) the last time i had it out there was no problems with it and its been in its anti-static bag ever since, when its all connected up and i short the power on pins it starts up, well the cpu/fan kicks in, the cdrom and harddrive kick in also but theres no signal from the monitor, it just stays blank, all components are working but she just won't bootup, the cdrom stays kicking every few seconds but no signal from the monitor, i've tried a few graphic cards but im sure thats not the problem. Any ideas, also i'm not geting any post beep errors..

totally OT, but why do you title all the threads you start as "re: etc"

You're not replying to anything, you're starting a new thread! Just irks me a lil! Grr!!

As to OP, what power supply have u got connected? Have you tried disconnecting the HD and CDROM and see if it gets a signal?

Ye point taken, sorry force of habit from work!
I,ve tried two 300w psu and disconnected both HD&CDRom, removed Ram, cleared BIOS via jumper and tested cpu in a working board but noting. I know not haveing it in a case don't look to good but i at one stage had it running as server for halflife and a few other games for months at a time in this condition so thats not an issue i don't think. The fact that i'm not geting any post errors is a bit confuseing, even when Ram, Graphics card or mouse/keyboard are removed.

    RE: = Regarding.
    Seems perfectly okay to me.

Drawing on my hazy knowledge of electrostatics, don't anti-static bags work as Faraday cages and keep all the static on the exterior of the bag, where the board is sitting?

yea, but it's mostly used when you're replying to a previous mail/statement/etc.

Since the title is obviously for a new thread, the Re: is redudant.

    anyway we're getting off topic

(i've been told that my p4/1m/800 are good for clocking

Im confused, the chip you mention is a S478 and the K7S5A mobo is a Socket A (462) board

    Aside from that........

I hate to rain on your parade JPB, but you are wasting your time overclocking with the K7S5A.

For a start it doesnt have a PCI divider and IIRC you will have to flash it with a hacked bios to up the FSB. TBH they were a pretty naff board as standard, let alone trying to overclock.

Disconnect everything, inlcuding CPU and RAM, remove the CMOS battery and leave it for 10 mins.

Reseat the CPU only (Including the heat sink and fan!) and connect the power. Get a copy of the manual online for your board and ensure that all the jumpers are presant (inlcuding the KBPWR if its on the board) in the correct position, including the reset cmos one.

Give it a blast without RAM and see if it generates any beeps.

I thought Re: was "in reply to".

Anyway, it doesn't bother me in the slightest.

Sorry for the OT OP. :)

Ye i tried removing cpu, ram, and all other hardware execpt for Graphic card and still not a error code. Just as id finished that i got a few bits and bobs id been waiting for in the post, one of which is a pc diagnosis card for isa/pci bus with speakerPc Analyzer Card.JPG and what that indicates at the moment is that power supply is ok, all Leds are on +12v -12v -5v +5v 3.3v. The CLK with or without cpu is lit, OCS is lit, SYS is lit which going by the user guide is good but heres where i think my problem is, according to the manaual the RST indicator should be on for half a second after power on or reset and then turned off.
But its not staying off, the board must have a short somewhere as it keeps reseting its self about every 10 seconds, it will start to boot and then reset. No pins are in contact and the only thing i have done with it is to apply some artic silver to the cpu but that was before the problem and its not making any contact with anything it should't be. I have a feeling i'm over looking something very simple here

I was talking in the Old handwritten letter sense:

RE: Your letter on the 1st of April 2003.

Anyway, once again, apologies for the OT.

connect speakers to board, audio out, crt monitor to board onboard vga out, leave inram, take out any vga card, boot up, do u get any beeps, mobo bios maybe set to default, motherboard onboard vga output.with some pcs i find, i have to enable, agp, thru bios, , before i get vga display,or display, from grahics card .sumtimes agp,or pci express is not enabled in bios.just onboard vga,not dvi.

Ye tried that but still just keeps resetting, this rubbish board KS57A don't come with an onboard vga port. Why in the hell is it resetting itself, must be bad, damaged BIOS?

disconnect all cdroms ,hds, ide devices, check are all jumpers on mobo are on correct, see manual,re jumpers config, reboot pc, just have psu, grahics card ,and simm memory installed, make sure you have simm ,in slot o ,1st slot ,if theres conflict,on ide, between cdrom,or hardrive, it can stop grahic output on crt,
