So far I have had a great start. I had three winners today and I had Beachcomber Bay e/w. What does everyone think about tomorrows racing?
I see that Monkerhostin is running tomorrow.Didn't have the greatest of races today and I don't know if he will have a chance tomorrow. What do you think?
Desert Quest(Ruby on board) has a good chance in the 4:20, but he's up against the likes of Straw Bear(McCoy on board) who finished second behind Noland in THE SUPREME NOVICES´ HURDLE at Cheltenham.

Pity nobody was on my 10/1 winner yesterday. No harm.

    Here are my selections
    2.00 Bold Bishop
2.35 Powerstation (NAP) I really don't think I need to justify this selection, if you're new here have a look back to late last year. I don't think there will be any value in BJK, and If Powerstation can come on from Cheltenham, or even reproduce that form, it should be able to catch BJK. I'm gona be a brave little bastard and say that this is my race of the festival. Nevermind Garvivonnian in the national, I'd prefer if Powerstation won here today.

    3.10 Fota Island
    3.45 Hakim
    4.20 Straw Bear
    4.55 Mount Clerigo
    5.30 Strangely Brown

I've decided to have a little bet on Turpin Green in the 2pm race as the very very small bet on Bold Bishop.

word of warning on BJK <powerstation will only beat him if he falls (imo) Powerstation will more than likely place but wont beat BJK. Price will be skinny tho. :)

    Grand got it now.

    And thanks for the info.

    Might try one Friday :)
Powerstation, foto island,Nycteos, strawbear, billyvodan ???(might change), Pirate Flagship.

I'm probably wrong in saying this but I think if Powerstation was let go earlier at Cheltenham it would have been a different story. Russell obviously knows this, and should be looking to let it go alot sooner today in order to beat BJK - it's the only chance it has of winning to be honest. If BJK falls Powerstation should snap it up, but I'd love to see these two neck and neck with 50 yards to go. That would make my Aintree. :)

Bewleys Berry : comments from RP from the R&SA Chase... Bewleys Berry, eventually well beaten in sixth, was only three lengths down and disputing third, though under pressure, when he blundered and was hampered at the same fence. He ran much better than his finishing position suggests and could win a nice race this spring. & from prior race Bewleys Berry looks to need a strong pace as he was outpaced at the end of the back straight but fought back into contention on the flat and looks a thorough stayer.
The good ground and fastish track will suit and is in with a lively chance. EW

BJK: I think somebody said it here, if he stays up he wins. WIN

River City: very speculative choice, but worth an EW punt if performs. Has finished around Aintree before so should handle the fences. EW

Cregg House: An outsider who won the race last year. The right trip. Ground might be a little Good. Wide open contest has every chance. EW

BJK is a deserved choice for the nap vote though he wont be much of a price.Uga may run well in that race too.

I am going to go for:

    Commerical Flyer
    BJK
Be My Better Half (Was a super jumper with A.Moore)
    Fondmort
    Joacci

however I have had a terrible few months since William Pep & Whitehills won there bumpers. So you should prob lay all these :D

I tipped that Bewleys Berry for Cheltenham and i lost a fair bit on him, i think todays the day for him.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 107 ✭✭Redlancer

Bewleys Berry is very game but I just cant see him getting his head in front. He does look a little exposed. I think Commerical Flyer could still be special while Zabenz was tipped by Hobbs to go well.

51.20. Only one unplaced favourite today.

Surprised that nobody mentioned Liberthine today. 16/1 was much too big a price for her. I bet Morgans got over the disappointment of her not running in the National by winning a truckload on her today. Well, Morgans, am I right? :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,436 ✭✭✭Morgans

Didnt want to blow my own trumpet Crumbs. Was wondering if anyone here remembered. Thanks for the name check. I had her at 20s ew and 27/1 on betfair. (i have her on several small bets for the national itself at >100/1 - when it looked as if she had some hope of getting in)

The gutting thing about it is that she got 10-2 in the National. Ordinarily a perfect weight for the race.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,080 ✭✭✭Crumbs

Well at least after winning today, she's bound to get in next year! Only a 7-year old too.

I've decided to have a little bet on Turpin Green in the 2pm race as the very very small bet on Bold Bishop.

Two winners today, Strangely Brown at 12s in the last and Straw Bear at 5/2 in the 4.20. Thankfully the Strangely Brown win meant I won back the loses on Powerstation to finish up a small bit on the day. Hakim ran a great race but was well beaten, Mount Clerigo isn't worth a mention, Fota Island ran well as did Turpin Green. My placepot consisted of Turpin Green, BJK, Fota Island, Hakim, Straw Bear and Mount Clerigo - it's a shame you have to take the first six races, I wanted to swap Mount Clerigo for Strangely Brown.

Powerstation has no excuses today. When it moved up into third on the rail I was sure it was going to get atleast third, but it was off the bridle and went backwards finishing a mile behind in forth place. BJK, well what can I say, McCoy was laughing going past as he turned to the other jockey, he was asked in an interview what he said to him and Tony merely said "I was laughing to myself". Superb animal, well done to all who were on it.

This is definately a better Aintree than Cheltenham for me. The only race that I had to take a back seat in was the 4.55, whereas I had to take a back seat for most of, if not all of Cheltenham.

Yeah, I missed out on it by one so when I heard it was that size it didn't bother me too much. It was only 30/1 the day before I think. I've had a good two days so far, even though Powerstation never impressed. You definately did well today Healio, to have the first three winners today is some feat, and to continue the run with some nice e/w bets coming in too. Fair play and keep it up!
