I'm looking for a product that probably doesn't exist. Namely a television with a built in FTA satellite receiver that can also pick up terrestrial analogue. My aim is to have a channel lineup like so:

    1. RTE 1
    2. RTE 2
    3. TV3
    4. TG4
    5. BBC 1
    6. BBC 2
    7. ITV
    etc. etc.

Basically, so the less technologically minded among us are able to flick channels normally without having to hit AV and have two remote controls.

Such a product would be a hit in Ireland, surely...

Does anyone know if such a thing exists?

Technisat make soe but I don't know how the channel lineup works. And they range from about €1200 EX VAT

Reelbox make a PVR that can do Satellite, DTT and Analog. Then ONLY AV on the monitor.

You can buy a fancy Philips Programmable Learning remote and tell it that 1 .. 9 is TV and 11 etc satellite. It can learn all the TV and Satellite codes.

My solution has been to mostly stop watching Terrestrial TV at all...

    Yes.

I've got the Panasonic TX-28DTS3 (Sky, UK DTT and nicam stereo analogue with fastext). One handset.

    Drawbacks:

    1. They don't make them any more.
    2. Sky haven't yet updated the software (still on 3.2.11).

    Otherwise, brilliant piece of kit.

Some more info on the Technisat box - in Dutch appropriately enough.

Only other one that comes to mind is the SATCRUISER DSR-501.

Integrated sat/tvs used to be fairly common in analog times. Don't know why there are so hard to come by now.

For UK/ROI, it might be down to licensing issues with NDS for use of a Videoguard cardreader system?
