I'm heading in tonight, as I need some bad beat material for a new blog entry. No doubt the 50 double chance will throw one my way as always.

I was thinking of heading in for a cash game later. Do they get many cash games going on a thursday ? Any info on blinds and standard of play would be appreciated.

As I mentioned, I'm up for a €10 last longer (before the money) bet, but only worth doing if 5 people are willing to pony up. Otherwise it's just chump change for a man of my means! :)

well considering you win the thing every week i can imagine that €10 doesnt mean a whole lot!!! yeh id be up for that though if there was a few more of us going........ doesnt seem to be a whole lot of interest though!

    rtt,

in my opinion the cash games are the weakest in dublin. they can be tricky to play against but alot of the players are rubbish and will call you down with anything! the blinds are 1/2 and its PL holdem generally. Ive only played cash on thurs so this is the night im basing my views on.

Hope that helps you and good luck!

3 or 4 cash games on Thursdays.

    50 min buy-in 1/2 PL Hold-Em.
    50 Min 250 max 1/2 NL Hold-Em.

Standard of play is very mixed. Some good, some bad, some horrific.

Well as always I went out to an absolutely sickening beat that would have left me as CL on the table. Pocket jacks vs AQ, flop KJx rainbow. Turn blank, river oh yeah you guessed it. A fcuking ten and gone in 16th or so.

I think the boards last longest award went to Azzeretti who I think I saw at the final table.

The first time I have some luck in this tournament I am going to win it. Maybe I need to employ a reverse psychology strategy where I get my chips in when I'm behind.

    Harumph.

Always a sickner when that happens. I was card dead for the entirety of the tournament (as I was the night before) and was knocked out playing the best cards I have been dealt all night, AQo. I wanted a caller so was perfectly happy to see Miles call with 10 10, fair enough really, I need to double up or go home.

I'd say there was some good cash game action last night.

As always the cash games proved extremely lucrative.

1 calling station at my table who gave me all my profit. Somehow he was up about 800 when i left.

    2 hands I remember:

    Button raise preflop. 2 callers.

Flop Q8x 2 spades. PFR bets 30. Calling station calls. Other guy raises it up to 100.

PFR folds. Calling machine calls. Turn 10 of spades, Check. Guy bets 100. Called.

    River Q. Check. All-in for 150. Call.

Guy turns over 23o. Calling station turns over an 8.

A few hands later, someone tries to bluff him out of a €1200 pot on every street when the calling station is holding a monster. The guy shows Ace high on a Q3388 board.

1 hand I had AJ in LP, flop was J high with 2 hearts. Checked to me I pot it. he calls. Turn rag. I pot it. he calls. River Kh. He checks and I check behind. i show my hand and he insta-mucks

Also called pot size bets on every street when he had the Kh on a flop with 3 hearts. I'd flopped a flush and luckily no more hearts came up.

He wasn't a middle aged man from the country? That you would guess was a farmer? There was a player on table 5 last night in the tournament that wasn't exactly a calling station but wouldn't lay down draws, pairs or A high for love or money. He inflicted two of the sickest runner runner beats (he was soooo far behind in both, I almost threw up) to amass a huge stack, but I would guess he pissed it all away before it was all over.

I hope I see him again soon.

Disasterous tourney for me. Apart from paying the blinds I didn't play a single hand, best hand I saw was Ac6c UTG and with every hand being raised preflop I threw it away only to see 3 clubs land on the board.

Moved table and played a pair of 9's in the worst possible way losing the majority of what chips I had left. Pushed a couple of hands later with AcKc, (I only had 4*BBs left) no callers.

Then got knocked out when I picked up Ad8d, and called a bet that put me all-in on a flop of A T 8 rainbow, other guy had AT and that was all she wrote.

Winning €200 on Blackjack beforehand softened the blow somewhat though

i was in seat ten on that table when that happened, that was sick. the second time he rivered in the same level.

i went out when i pushed a7o with about 4BBs got called by KQo, and a queen on the river. lovely!

what a crapshoot it was though with two tables left. its ridiculous, dont think i will play it again

Were you the guy who kept robbing my blinds on table 1?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,563 ✭✭✭sikes

    i might have been alright!

though the last time i did, i had to lay down the aj, only to find the reraiser with aj too.

Dont think i could have called the push

I went out in 8th place last night (after I actually dozed off at the table). I woke up to the monster that it A6s. UTG and with 6XBB there wasn't much else to do. I am very proud off my tidy profit of €5. That works out at about €1 per hour played - excellent rate of pay as, compared to my previous working conditions, in a sweatshop in SE Asia, this is a magnificiant night's work.

A strange ruling in one of the early levels - blinds 75/150. One players announes "call" out of turn and was about to push his 150 chips in. He was stopped by the dealer who told him he was out of turn. At this time the player had only manged to put 100 of his 150 chips across the line. The next player to act then announced "Raise". The action then came to the out of turn caller, who didn't want to have any of the raise. The dealer didn't make him put out the extra 50 chips, insisting that "its only the amount he puts out, out of turn"????. I tried to explain to him that the min bet had to be 150 but most of the table agreed that he was, in fact, only entitled to pay 100?
I am I missing something here? I know this was only 50 chips but.......50 chips is 50 chips. Come on now, €1 per freakin' hour!? I'll be armwrestling people for those 50 chips next:D

    azzeretti,

I think that the pre poker boozing might have had something to do with you nodding off at the table....and perhaps finishing in the money :p

    Almost certainly :D

Made my first visit to the SE last night. Very lovely place, etc. (all been said before) but what a shocking tournament structure. With 6 players left, the average stack was five BBs! Freezing the blinds was a big no-no. I'm not sure that I'll be playing this tourney again.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 601 ✭✭✭willis

yep have to agree with crumbs. thats the problem with live tournies in dublin is that when they get down to the crucial part of the game the stack/blind ratio is horrible(apart from €30f.o. in fitz).at least luke usually freezes the blinds in fitz mosta time
